News from the Park
Parent Newsletter 19 02.02.2024
This week at Brunswick has been a blast!
During the week, we were visited by an author, attended various sporting events and had Brunswick Park's first doughnut day! A big thank you to everyone involved for making these events happen.
On Monday, Reception and Key Stage 1 took part in workshops led by the author Annemarie Anang.
Annemarie commented, "I wanted to express my gratitude for the warm welcome to Brunswick Park Primary and Nursery School today! I had a wonderful time and had very positive feedback from the staff and children. I’d like to stay connected with Brunswick Park and hope to return one day with more books that I have written. I’ve a new one coming out in October about dance, which I am excited about!"
Mrs Bischiniotis and I had a brilliant time looking at the fantastic history learning that has taken place so far this year. We have some excellent historians at Brunswick Park who use a variety of history skills - it was wonderful to see children using a range of sources of evidence, display a good understanding of chronology, and compare and contrast different historical periods.
As part of their 'Fire! Fire! - The Great Fire of London' project, Year 2 delved into history by constructing Tudor houses and re-enacting the Great Fire. The children not only built structures using their creativity and knowledge of 1666 London but they also set their creations ablaze, exploring the sights, smells, sounds, and experiences of the event. It was an unforgettable learning adventure!
Last week's PTA pre-loved uniform event was a great success. We will be holding another event later this year.
I hope you have an excellent weekend.

Author Visit
This week we welcomed Annemarie Anang to our school. She thoroughly entertained our Reception and Key Stage 1 children with a lively retelling of her book ‘Nefertiti’. Mrs Bischiniotis said it was a "Beautiful story time filled with rhythm and musicality. Annemarie engaged the children in her story telling encouraging them to participate with actions and singing! The children felt that they were part of the story. Thank you Annemarie!"
