Parent Newsletter number 11 22.11.24
Hello, we have had a very busy week at Brunswick Park! Keep reading to find out all about it.
Children in Need
Together we raised a massive £906.63 for Children in Need!
The children had so much fun taking part in our Spotacular Bear Pong challenge. The atmosphere in the studio was amazing and everyone took part, in their house teams, supporting each other beautifully. The leader board continuously changed over the course of the day culminating in an exciting final of individual winners from each house.
The cake sale after school was also a huge success.
We can’t thank you enough for your support and generosity supporting this wonderful charity.
Computing After School Clubs
We are in the process of setting up two new computing after school clubs. From January, there will be a coding and a robotics club run by an external provider ROBOTHINK. They will be coming in to lead an assembly later this term with booking information to be sent out over the coming weeks. We are really excited to engage with this team and are sure that these clubs will prove to be extremely popular.
Winter is here
The weather is definitely getting cold now. Please ensure children come to school wrapped up - please label all items of clothing including hats, scarves and gloves so that they can easily be returned if they get lost.
Toys from home
Please ensure that your child does not bring in items from home to play with at break times (e.g. any cards including Pokémon and football cards, games and toys). If items are brought in, they will be removed and handed back at the end of the school day.
Year 5
Last week, children from Year 5 visited the Barbican Centre to view a performance of Gustav Holst's The Planets Suite by the London Symphony Orchestra. As well as being an enjoyable, cultural experience, it was also loosely linked to their science topic. In advance of the visit, the children learnt a song that they performed with all the other schools in attendance. Mr Griffiths was fortunate to attend the trip and commented on the children's engagement and behaviour - they were a real credit to their school!
Year 2
We are bursting with pride for all of Year 2 at Brunswick Park School! Today, they attended the Barnet Music Festival and made us all so proud with their beautiful singing and confident performances. They represented our school with such grace and talent. Well done, Year 2—you were amazing!
WhatsApp groups
We understand that WhatsApp group are helpful to parents and carers for exchanging information. However, please be reminded that these groups are not run by the school and often information is incorrect. Please make sure that information you are adding to any groups is correct. For clarity please use the information that comes from the school office only.
Attendance
As you will be aware, schools are required to closely monitor children's attendance at school and contact families individually if their child(ren)'s attendance is a concern. We would like to take this opportunity to remind all our families that, for the sake of their social skills, friendships, progress and attainment, it is absolutely vital for children to be at school as much as possible, and that they should only be kept away from school when they are definitely not well enough to attend.
Holidays must not be taken in term time and even if we are informed in advance, we are not able to authorise absence of this nature. Please refer to the graph which will give you an understanding of the impact of absence on children's progress and attainment.
Just One Tree Charity
Earlier this term, we took part in Just One Tree Day 2024. We are delighted to announce that we have raised £201.00. This means that there will be 201 trees planted! A massive well done and thank you to everyone who contributed!
Mr Reisman
As some of you may know Mr Reisman and his wife have welcomed a beautiful baby boy over half term. Perfect timing! Mr Reisman returned to work this week and we wish him and his family our warmest congratulations.
Poppy Appeal
We raised £27.32 from our poppy merchandise. Thank you to those who purchased.
Reading Week
Thank you to everyone who purchased new books from our Book Fair.
We will let you know how much we have raised for the school once everything has been counted.
Our new Reading Ambassadors are doing a great job. Thank you to you all for keeping the library tidy and for helping to publicise our recent reading competition and book fair. Your support and enthusiasm is extremely appreciated.
Here are this month’s recommendations from BooksforTopics.
Book reviews can be found on their website.
Why not try to find these books in a local Barnet Library or local book shop!
