Welcome back. We hope you had a lovely half term break.
This is always an exciting half term with the build up to Christmas and lots of lovely activities going on. As well as some class trips we also have Children in Need and the Book Fair to look forward to
Please do check the dates for the diary. There are some new entries, amendments and updates.
This half term, our value is 'kindness'.
Anti Bullying Week Monday 10th November - Friday 14th November
On Monday (10th November) we are having an Odd Socks Day. This is in support of the start of Anti Bullying Week. Please ask the children to wear odd socks to school.
Shine- Spina Bifida Charity
Thank you to everyone who supported this great charity. We raised £99.00.
Children in Need
To Celebrate this year’s Children in Need day The School Council have decided that, as we had so much fun last year, we should bring back Bear Pong only this time bigger and better!!!! This year we are going to take on the teachers to see just who can be the best at Bear Pong.
The children can dress in anything spotty or yellow for the day to add to the fun. We will be holding a cake sale after school. We are asking for as many donations of cakes as possible as this cake sale is always hugely popular (please remember we are a nut free school).
In order to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity, we are asking for a suggested donation (either on SchoolMoney or in cash on the day) of £2 per child. Of course, you can donate more or less, should you wish.
British legion- Poppy Appeal
Poppy merchandise is on display in the front office to raise money for the British Legion Poppy Appeal. This includes, poppies, wrist bands, and key rings.
We ask that you make a donation of your choosing for the poppies. The key rings and wrist bands are £1.00 each.
Chatter Matters
IT’S GOOD TO TALK!
Our new value this term is ‘Kindness’.
Below are some conversation starters around kindness, which you can explore at home:
How do you show kindness to your friends?
Which people do you know that are kind? How are they kind?
What are some random acts of kindness that we can do for others?
Do you have to like someone to be kind to them?
What is one way somebody showed kindness to you in the last week?
What are some ways we can be kind to ourselves?
How would you respond if you witnessed somebody being unkind?
What actions would promote more kindness in the world?
Reading Corner
It’s easy to feel lost in the flood of so many new children’s books available.
Here are five recently published favourites. Book reviews can be found on BooksforTopics.
Why not try to find these books in a local Barnet Library or local book shop
COMPETITION TIME!
We have five £5 vouchers to give away as a prize for the Book Fair.
Take an empty cardboard cereal or shoe box and turn it into a scene from a well-known children’s book. On the back of the box please ensure you write your name and class clearly.
Entries to be handed to Miss Jordan by Wednesday 12th November ready for judging before our book fair.
