News from the Park
Parent Newsletter number 8 25.10.24
Wow! What an exciting half term we have had! It has been full of amazing learning, excellent choices and an incredible amount of kindness - thank you and well done to all our wonderful Brunswick Park children.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continuous support. I wish you a great half term break and look forward to seeing you on Monday 4th November.
What we did this week
Year 3 had a fantastic time in their workshop on Tuesday. They had the chance to find out all about fossils from Rebecca at GeoBus and even had the chance to explore some fossils themselves using their own 3D glasses!
Nursery have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about autumn!
This half term, Year 4 have been learning about the Romans. To celebrate their history unit, they baked some biscuits with Mrs Spencer and shaped them as the Romans would have.
This week, Year 4 celebrated the end of their history topic with a Roman Day. They looked at the various ways the Romans changed life in Britain, decoded some Roman numerals and ended the day with horrible histories!
In 2F and 2R, students have been working on art projects inspired by the styles of Jeff Koons and Yayoi Kusama. Exploring colour, patterns, and form, they've created a range of unique pieces, each reflecting their own interpretations of these influential artists.
School Council
The School Council met yesterday to discuss ideas for Children in Need day, which this year is Friday 15th November. We think we have decided on the best idea and are now busy planning a fun day for everyone. Details will follow after half term. Watch this space!
Parking
May we ask parents using the service road and other residential roads surrounding the school, to drive and park safely and respectfully. You should not be parking on the roundabout or blocking entrances. It is dangerous to you and others, especially the children. We ask parents to think about the bigger picture of what would happen in an emergency. Unfortunately, again we have received reports of parents being aggressive to others. This is not acceptable and we would urge all parents to show respect for each other and to treat others as you would want to be treated.
Please see the link below for further information regarding parking restrictions and contact information to report concerns:
Lost Property
Please check the lost property boxes. They will be emptied in the first week back after half term.
British Legion Poppy Appeal
After half term we will have Poppy merchandise in the front office to raise money for the British Legion Poppy Appeal. This includes, poppies, wrist bands, and key rings.
We ask that you make a donation of your choosing for the poppies. The key rings and wrist bands are £1.00 each.
School Dinner Menu
There are a couple of changes to the new menu that we previously sent out. Please see the changes below-
Week 3 Monday's Quorn burgers will swap with Week 1 Thursday's chickpea and vegetables with rice.
Week 1 Friday's vegetable and lentil bolognaise will swap with Week 3 Thursday's vegetable and bean chilli with rice.
Macmillan Coffee Morning, Cake Sale and Non-uniform Day
A huge thank you to everyone who supported these events at the end of last month - by baking, donating and joining us despite the wet weather. Those who attended the Coffee Morning received a warm welcome from our pupil helpers and got to know some fellow parents, carers and staff. It was fantastic to see so many children and staff wearing something green to promote the great work of the Macmillan Cancer Support charity. There wasn't a single cake left by the end of the cake sale - thank you to everyone who came along for your generous donations and your patience as our very busy pupil helpers served you. We raised £669.36 in total.
Thank you to everyone in the school community who helped organise and run these events, including the mums who came to make tea, the teachers who released the year 4-6 helpers from class, Anella who managed the SchoolMoney donations and Barry for our tables. The biggest thank you of all however has to go to our year 4-6 helpers who put together these events from the planning, through poster making and speaking in assembly, to running the coffee morning and cake sale - well done team - you've done yourselves and Brunswick Park proud.
