Thank you
We are so grateful to our parent community for the calm, supportive way you responded to the incident outside school on Monday. Your partnership and care helped keep our students safe and reassured. Mr Griffiths is meeting our local councillor to discuss road safety around our school.
School Council Elections
This Monday saw our annual School Council Election process take place. All of KS1 & KS2 came to the polling station in the art room and cast their votes. All nominees congratulated and wished each other luck, it really was a lovely thing to see. Well done to the elected council and to all the children that put themselves forward, it really is a brave thing to do. I look forward to working with all of the children this year.

Toilet Usage at School
We’d like to let you know about an ongoing issue we’ve been having with our school toilets. Recently, some of them have become blocked and even flooded because of too much toilet paper being used and paper towels being put down the toilets. We’ve had plumbers out several times, and each time the problem has been the same – the blockages are caused by excessive amounts of paper. This has meant that some toilets have been out of use, which causes a lot of disruption during the school day.
We’ll be reminding the children at school about how to use the toilets properly – such as only using the toilet paper they need and always putting paper towels in the bins provided. We’d really appreciate it if you could also chat to your child at home to help us reinforce this message.
Thanks very much for your support.
Year 5 had a great time visiting the Science Museum this week.
The children were shocked at the size of the parachutes attached to the shuttles which slows down the descent to Earth.
The parachute opens out to the size of two tennis courts.
The children also enjoyed learning new facts in the Mission to Space workshop.
A great educational day was had by all.
Year 4 took a trip to St Albans Cathedral on Thursday to learn about the story of Alban and the Romans. The children completed a roman trail, had a chance to dress up and also tried their hand at mosaic making!
Parent Consultations
You will have received a letter today with details about this year’s parent consultations. As the arrangements are a little different this year, please take a moment to read the letter carefully. We’re really looking forward to meeting with you and talking about your children’s progress. Please also not the change of dates from previous 'Dates for the Diary'.
Morning Drop-Off Reminder
We’ve noticed a few children being dropped off at the side gate at 8:30am. Please remember that only children attending an Early Bird intervention, their siblings (who should go to Breakfast Club), or nursery children should arrive at this time.
For everyone else, the school gates open at 8:40am. To keep all children safe, please do not leave them at the gate or allow them into the playground unsupervised, as there are no staff on duty before then. Thank you for your support.
Polite reminder
Please may we remind you that at no time should you allow anyone through the front gate during the school day. If you are entering or exiting, please do not allow anyone else in even if you recognise them as another parent. We need to know who is on site at all times.
If we witness someone doing this we will send a text message asking you not to. If it keeps occurring, we will invite you in for a meeting.
Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.
JUST ONE Tree - Friday 17th October - Wear something green
JUST ONE Tree supports reforestation projects in areas severely affected by deforestation such as Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique and Brazil. In doing so they have the greatest positive effect on limiting global warming whilst simultaneously alleviating extreme poverty within local communities through the provision of training, agricultural education and sustainable incomes.
JUST ONE Tree makes it simple for everyone to take collective action on the climate crisis because Just £1 plants 1 Tree.
We’re sure you will agree that tree planting is absolutely essential at this critical time for the planet. We will therefore be joining children, parents and teachers around the world on this day to demonstrate that an individual's actions can have a positive impact on the environment.
Please bring your suggested donation of £1 to school (and wear green) on 17th October 2025 or log on to SchoolMoney Shop to donate.
More information can be found at: https://www.justonetree.life/
We look forward to counting the number of trees that our school community can plant!
Reading Corner
We are very happy to announce that Mark Stratton and his children (both also published authors) will be visiting Brunswick Park on Thursday 23rd October.
Mark Stratton, author of ‘ToadPig’, will host a reading for each class from Year 1 – Year 6, along with a question and answer opportunity. Mark believes that a good story that inspires children and challenges their reading should be the core of any picture book. He has a passion for creating stories for the enjoyment of others and his work inspires children and adults alike. He claims that his own children have generated some of the best ideas used in his publications.
Signed copies of Mark’s books are on sale during this event, but need to be pre-ordered beforehand on School Money. These books are available at the reduced price of £8 each. When ordering, it is essential to state which book you would like to receive.
To ensure that Mark has the appropriate numbers, orders on SchoolMoney will close on Friday 10th October. No purchases can be made after this date, so ensure that you meet this deadline if you are interested.
Looking forward to a great event!
ORACY WEEK
Chatter Matters
IT’S GOOD TO TALK!
Yesterday was National Poetry Day.
The day aims to inspire a love of poetry – an opportunity to explore and celebrate.
Poetry introduces new vocabulary that may not be used in everyday conversations and interactions.
It can open-up children’s worlds and imaginations by introducing them to new places, creatures, people, ideas and concepts; teaches children about rhythm and rhyme, which in turn supports children to hear and identify individual phrases, words and sounds and can provide opportunities to support children’s understanding of their feelings and emotions, and their ability to express them.
Today at Brunswick Park, we celebrated National Poetry day with a Poetry Slam in our achievement assembly.
Each year group performed a poem on the theme of ‘play’ to their key stage audience.
Everyone performed beautifully and had fun. Great work Brunswick Park!
