Parent Newsletter number 4 26.09.25
It has been another busy week here at Brunswick Park.
The Reception parents attended a phonics meeting. We hope everyone found this useful.
On Monday the School Council elections are taking place. Good luck to everyone running for election.
We trust that all year groups from Reception through to Year 6 have received information regarding how to consent for the flu vaccination. If you have not received this, please contact the school office.
School Trips
Please may we remind parents that when there is a school trip meeting at a tube station, the mini bus provision for bring children to and from school is only for children in Breakfast Club and After School Club. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children who are in an activity clubs.
Contacting the school
The school phone lines are extremely busy, especially in the mornings. If you are not able to get through, please leave a message and we will get back to you. All child absences should be reported on the absence line (option 1).
Our Teachers 2 Parents system is a messaging platform only. Please do not reply to these emails as it is 'no reply'.
If you need to email the office, please use office@brunswickpark.barnetmail.net
Parking
May we once again ask parents to ensure that they are parking legally and respectfully. We have been contacted by staff from Brunswick Park Medical Centre who were recently verbally abused by some of our parents.
This is not acceptable and we would urge all parents/carers to show respect for each other and act in line with our Code of Conduct.
Atom Learning
We are delighted to introduce Atom Learning as our new online homework portal for children in Years 3–6. Atom Learning is a fun, engaging, and interactive platform that supports children’s learning across a range of subjects, helping them to build confidence and develop key skills at their own pace. All pupils in Years 3–6 have now been given their login details and will begin using the platform for their homework going forward. We are excited to see how Atom Learning will enhance our children’s independent learning and look forward to working together to make the most of this new resource.
After School Club
A letter has been sent out this week to all parents regarding some slight changes to pick up arrangements at After School Club. If your child attends, please take a moment to read the letter so you are familiar with the new arrangements. Thank you for your support and understanding.
Forgotten items
We know that life is busy and quite often children leave things at home in the morning. However, unfortunately the number of forgotten items (ie PE kits, water bottles etc) that are being handed into the office on a daily basis is increasing. So much so that we cannot guarantee that the items will be delivered to your child. Please try to remember all items in the morning prior to leaving for school.

Reading Week
It’s easy to feel lost in the flood of so many new children’s books available.
Here are five recently published favourites. Book reviews can be found on BooksforTopics.
Why not try to find these books in a local Barnet Library or local book shop!
Last week, expectations for our 2025-2026 Reading Ambassadors were shared with Year 4 and 5. If you are in Year 4 or 5.
We have been inundated with applications, which we are looking forward to reading through.
Our new team of ambassadors will hopefully be shared next week.

ORACY WEEK
Chatter Matters
IT’S GOOD TO TALK!
Good idea / bad idea? is an effective talk structure.
Present an idea and ask your child if they think it is a good idea or a bad idea and their reasons.
If appropriate, why not respectfully challenge their thoughts.
This game promotes critical and creative thinking and allows pupils to see other’s perspectives.
Use it for a fun quick game to develop learning through talk.
Talking sheep . . . good idea / bad idea?
Robots . . . good idea / bad idea?
