This week has been full of exciting activities and learning.
Year 3 made a splash with their swimming lessons! The instructors have reported how brilliantly Year 3 have been getting on - they have commented on their great listening, determination and beautiful manners. Well done Year 3!
Last week, Year 4 enjoyed an exciting and memorable trip to Stubbers Adventure Centre. The children took part in an exciting variety of outdoor activities with highlights including Laser Combat, Bushcraft, Climbing and double Kayaking! For many of the children, it was their first time trying these activities, and Brunswick staff were so impressed by how everyone approached each activity with enthusiasm and determination. The leaders at Stubbers were friendly and enjoyed sharing their love of the outdoors with the children, while also challenging their teamwork, confidence, and communication skills. It was a fantastic opportunity for Year 4 to build resilience and broaden their experiences while making memories that will no doubt stay with them for years to come.
A massive well done to our superstars in Year 6 who have worked extremely hard this week completing the Key Stage 2 SATs. They approached each day with great positivity and perseverance. Year 6 should feel incredibly proud of themselves and their fantastic achievements.
I hope you have a brilliant weekend - see you on Monday!
WOW Day: Celebrating Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole
This week, to mark the birthday of Florence Nightingale, children enjoyed a fantastic WOW Day exploring the lives and legacies of two inspirational women — Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. Pupils dressed up as nurses, medical staff, and soldiers, bringing history to life with wonderful creativity. Throughout the day, children took part in a range of engaging activities that deepened their understanding of the vital roles these pioneering women played in healthcare and history.
Reading Corner
This week our Reading Ambassadors read ‘Wolf and Bear’ to allocated classes across school. They read beautifully and led valuable discussions on the illustrations and moral of the story.
Here are some of the pupil’s views:
“I liked the colourful watercolours of the story. I liked the page when the wolf sang to the bear. It was sad that the bear was stuck in the shadows, but the wolf helped him through his dark times.”
“The best part of the story was when the wolf sang and the bear listened to the wolf’s song. It brightened his day.”
“The bear eventually changed his mind and spent time with the wolf, which made him happier. It is good to be around people.”
“I liked the page when the wolf was singing. This page looked magical with the northern lights pictured in the background.”
Reading Ambassador Book Recommendation
The best thing about reading is the fact that it is fun. You gather lots of ideas to help with your writing. Facts in non-fiction books also make you smarter.
My favourite book at the moment is Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
I love these because it is funny and makes me giggle. I like the comic pictures.
I think you will enjoy this book because it makes you laugh. It is a popular book in the school library.
My favourite author at present is Dave Pilkey who wrote Dog Man and Bunny vs Monkey.
I would like to read ‘Tom Gates’ next.
