The sun has been shining brightly on Brunswick Park this week. Everyone across the school has been working incredibly hard and having fun in their lessons.
This term, each class will attend a Forest School session with Miss Bines. This week, 3A and Nursery had a wonderful time! 3A consolidated their science learning on wildflowers and identifying trees. Nursery made bird feeders and went on a scavenger hunt.
Year 4 have wowed us with their poetry all about their favourite things. They will be publishing their poems and creating an anthology for everyone to enjoy.
Year 3 immersed themselves in their new Farm to Fork project. They started their learning by planting grass seeds which they will they will take home. Later this half term, Year 3 will be getting into our school garden to prepare it for growing fruit and vegetables.
I hope you have a wonderful bank holiday weekend. See you on Tuesday 6th May.
Reading Corner
This week in assembly we have enjoyed and discussed two books.
Here are some of the pupil’s views:
“Fantastic ending. Very creative. I’m pleased the girl started to enjoy books and become a story adventurer.”
“I loved the colour scheme, especially the vibrant orange on top of the dark greys. I liked the use of different typefaces so you knew who was talking.”
“I like the way the word HATE is crossed out. It helped me to predict what might happen.”
“I loved the way the spell in the story made the girl love books.”
“I liked the endpapers. The front endpapers had images of different crow eggs and the back endpapers had images of different crows.”
“I liked the use of large text for the author’s voice, but then smaller text for facts on crows.”
“The images had lots of layers. For example, the picture was on top of lined paper or newspaper print.”
“This picture book was full of fascinating facts . . . crows are smart . . . crows are clever . . . crows are crafty . . . and crows are playful.”
Reading Ambassador Book Recommendation
The best thing about reading is when you are transported into the story.
My favourite book at the moment is Dragon Mountain by Katie & Kevin Tsang
I love it because it is really detailed, with its careful use of words. It is especially tasty when it comes to food!
I think you will enjoy this book because it ends on a cliffhanger, so you need to read the second book to find out what happens.
My favourite author at present is Katie and Kevin Tsang.
I would like to read ‘Dragon Legend’ next.
