Parent Newsletter number 25 19.03.26
It has been another busy week at Brunswick Park.
Year 1 enjoyed their trips to Lee Valley Farm this week and last.
Thank you to the year 5 parents who attended the Secondary Transfer meeting yesterday and to those Year 4 parents who attended the residential Stubbers meeting this afternoon.
We are looking forward to Year 4's flute and clarinet concert tomorrow and of course, Comic Relief. Please donate nut free cakes for tomorrow's cake sale. Thank you to the School Council and Miss Heath for all their hard work in organising a wonderful day for this wonderful charity.
Dance Festival
The stage was set, the music started, and our incredible KS2 dancers absolutely lit up the Dance Festival on Monday in a spectacular celebration of movement and creativity!
After months of dedication, rehearsals, and hard work, the girls finally brought their K-pop–inspired routine to life on the big stage—and what a performance it was! Packed with energy, confidence, attitude, and razor-sharp timing, they had the audience captivated from start to finish. It was a true showstopper!
A huge congratulations to our talented dancers for their commitment and enthusiasm throughout the journey—you should be so proud of yourselves.
Special thanks go to Miss Miller, whose creative choreography and passion made this piece so dynamic and fun. Her dedication helped create a supportive and inspiring environment where every dancer could shine.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff and parents whose encouragement and support helped make this opportunity possible.
An unforgettable performance and a fantastic achievement—well done to everyone involved!

Reading Corner
Thank you to Asda’s Community Champion, who visited Brunswick Park last week to deliver a storytelling session to our Nursery and Reception children. Everyone enjoyed the stories she shared, which she then donated to our school. The children enjoyed joining in with the stories ‘We’re Looking for the Perfect Hug’ and The Tooth Fairy and the Crocodile’.
Reading Ambassador Book Recommendation
The best thing about reading is snuggling up in bed and getting lost in the pages.
My favourite book at the moment is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K Rowling.
I love it because the storyline is brilliant and mythical creatures, fantasy and magic are really good ideas.
I think you will enjoy this book because it can be funny and dramatic, and has good vocabulary, which helps you imagine what it looks like.
My favourite author at present is JK Rowling as I enjoy her fantastic series.
I would like to read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Chatter Matters
IT’S GOOD TO TALK!
5B took part in a class debate last week as part of their English Curriculum on the motion “Is Artificial Intelligence beneficial for humankind?”
The pupils researched Artificial Intelligence to develop their subject knowledge and then worked on their persuasive and formal language to write a persuasive argument for the side they agreed with the most.
The class then expressed their views on a debate and the floor questioned and challenged the panel.
Our new ‘agree, build, challenge’ scaffolds supported 5B in developing their oracy skills.
Here are a few quotes from 5B:
“I found it thrilling to share my opinions in front of the class and for them to challenge my views. I did not take the challenge from the floor personally. I was on the panel ‘against’ the motion.”
“The debate was ongoing because everyone took part. I was on the panel ‘for’ the motion.”
“I was on the panel ‘against’ the motion. I found it nerve-racking, but my confidence grew. It was a good experience.”
“I found the debate fun because it was an interesting topic to discuss and I learnt lots from the research. I was on the panel ‘for’ the motion.”
Our Next Oracy Challenge Reminder!
How to Eat a Creme Egg
To bring a little light-hearted fun to the end of term, our next oracy challenge will focus on giving clear instructions. The title of the challenge is: How to Eat a Creme Egg!
Just like our previous joke challenge, you can prepare your ideas at home.
Your task is to think about how you would explain to someone step-by-step how to eat a crème egg.
When you share your ideas in class, remember to:
Give your instructions in the correct order
Use clear language
Use imperative (bossy) verbs (e.g. open, bite, scoop, peel)
Speak clearly so your audience understands
You can be as creative, imaginative and inventive as you like! Maybe you have a special technique or a funny way to eat your creme egg.
During the week beginning Monday 23rd March 2026, you will have time in class to share your instructions with your classmates. There will be an Easter-themed prize for one child in each class for the most inventive and creative instructions!
We can’t wait to hear your brilliant ideas!
Get your teeth into this challenge!
🐰 PTA Easter Bunny Visit 🍫🐣
The Easter Bunny will be coming into school on 25th March to hand out chocolate Easter eggs and spread a little Easter cheer!
Don’t worry if your child has allergies or dietary requirements — we’ll make sure suitable alternatives are available so everyone can enjoy it.

🌸 PTA Pamper Night – Stall Holders Wanted 🌸
The PTA is currently planning a Pamper Night at school on 14th April (evening) and we would love to hear from any parents who run a beauty, wellness, or pamper-related business who might like to have a stall in the evening.
We are also looking for anyone who would be interested in providing sweet or savoury food for the event.
If this is something you would like to be involved in, please get in touch with the PTA (email brunswickparkpta@gmail.com or speak to one of PTA members). It would be lovely to support businesses within our school community while creating a fun evening for everyone.
Thank you!
