What a fun week it’s been at Brunswick Park as we explored the magic of storytelling! We enjoyed special assemblies and celebrated all the fabulous reading happening across the school. Well done to all the children for getting involved and sharing their love of stories.
Next week is our final week before half term, so we have a busy week ahead.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Netball League
After two defeats in the Netball League, the team bounced back in style with an impressive 6–1 victory over Ashmole. This result secured third place in the six-team league and brought the competitive season to a strong finish.
A hardworking performance throughout the match ensured Brunswick fully deserved the win, with excellent defending, attacking combinations, and confident shooting on display. Congratulations to all pupils who took part in the league. We now look forward to arranging friendly fixtures and festivals so more children attending the club can get involved.
Mixed Football - Title Decider Awaits
The Mixed Football team have put together a fantastic run of performances to sit joint top of the league table. Following narrow victories against Monkfrith and Osidge, the team continued their winning form with an excellent 1–0 win over Ashmole.
A stunning goal from Leo, combined with a determined team performance, secured Brunswick’s third win in three matches and a shared top spot with Danegrove. With the final fixture against Danegrove taking place on Friday, it will be a winner-takes-all match to conclude the league. We wish the team the very best of luck.
Badminton and Golf Festival
Year 4 pupils attended a fantastic festival focused on developing badminton and golf skills. The event provided a great opportunity for children to try something new and challenge themselves. The golf activities were particularly popular, with pupils showing impressive power hitting and accurate putting. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day for everyone involved
Basketball Triumph
Last Friday, our Year 6 basketballers travelled to Copthall to compete in the Barnet Basketball Competition. Despite having limited prior experience, the team approached the event with great enthusiasm and impressed from their very first game.
After strong performances in the group stage, the team finished second with two closely fought wins. Hammad showed excellent leadership throughout, Ivy impressed with her shooting around the hoop, while Kwabena and Aydin brought boundless energy, strong defending, and confident dribbling.
The quarter-final and semi-final saw comfortable victories over Woodridge and Moss Hall. In the final, Brunswick faced a strong Underhill side. Despite taking an early lead, Brunswick were unable to hold on, with Underhill ultimately emerging as deserved winners.
It was an amazing day, and the team were incredibly proud—if a little exhausted—after all the effort they put in.
New Age Kurling Success for Year 4
Our Year 4 children added more silverware to the Brunswick Park collection after securing a fantastic bronze medal at the New Age Kurling event. Competing in the sport for the very first time, the team showed impressive accuracy, power and tactical awareness, confidently progressing through the group stages to finish in an excellent third place.
A huge well done to our Year 4 team of Theo, Alex, Adrian and Emmanuel — a brilliant achievement and a performance to be proud of! 👏🥉
School Dinner Theme Days
To celebrate the Chinese New Year our kitchen will be serving a special menu on Tuesday 10th February. On the 13th February our kitchen will be offering a Pancake Day menu. We hope the children enjoy these days as a change to the usual menu.
Please see the menus below.
Reading Corner
Over the last few days, we have had fun celebrating National Storytelling Week.
The week started with SLT acting out the story ‘Big Bad Wolf Investigates Fairy Tales’. All pupils from Reception to Year 6 enjoyed this.
Our reading ambassadors spread their pleasure for reading by sharing a range of picture books with our younger pupils in Nursery – Year 2.
Our teachers also participated by sharing a story with another class.
Writing stories was also celebrated. All children in Year 1 – Year 3 and then Year 4 - Year 6 participated in creating a collaborative story, which was inspired by a single sentence stem. These stories have been shared with all classes today.
To end a fabulous week, a large number of certificates were celebrated in achievement assembly today.
Chatter Matters
ITS GOOD TO TALK!
We have had a great time over the week listening to jokes within our classroom and a smaller selection in achievement assembly today.
Everyone worked hard to remember their words and changing their volume, tone and pitch of their voice to entertain their audience.
The mission was accomplished as laughter was heard through our corridors.
Great work Brunswick Park!
