Parent Newsletter number 2 13.9.24
It has been another fun-filled week at Brunswick Park! Every class has been busy with their learning - it has been wonderful to see so many children excited and proud of their achievements which they have enjoyed sharing with me. There are many exciting wow events coming up this half term so please do continue reading our weekly newsletters and checking the 'dates for the diary' section.
I wish you all a brilliant weekend.
Welcome new Reception children
This week we have welcomed our new reception classes. The children have all settled in amazingly well and we welcome the children and their families to the Brunswick Park family.
Autumn Parent Consultations
This term's parent consultations will take place towards the end of this half term. Please see the 'dates for your diary' section for information.
You will be able to book your parent consultation appointments via a link soon. More details about when you can start booking appointments and how to do this will be emailed to families soon.
Macmillan coffee morning and related events
A group of children from years 4-6 is organising various events on Friday 27th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Coffee morning - there will be a coffee morning for adults in the parent hub at 8.50am that day - please come along and support this event if you are available. It is also a great opportunity for some of our newer parents and carers to meet each other.
Cake sale - there will be a cake sale after school so the children also have an opportunity to get something tasty. Please bring some cash along and support this event.
Cake donations - please donate cakes, biscuits etc. for these two events. Donations (which must be NUT FREE) can be handed in on Friday 27th September in the playground or to the school office.
Non-uniform day - that day (Friday 27th September) will also be a non-uniform day to raise money for Macmillan and children are encouraged to wear something green to show their support. Please make your donation in the school shop section of SchoolMoney (from next week) - various amounts are available for you to choose from.
Thank you in advance for your support and look out for posters in school in the run up to the events for more details.
Scooters
Children must not use their scooters or bikes when on the school site as accidents can happen. Please support us with this to keep everyone safe. If your child is attending afterschool club and rides a scooter/bike to school, please leave scooters/bikes parked at the front of the school in the bike area rather than in the playground - thank you.
Support
Please see below details of English for Speakers of other Languages classes, BICS mental Health workshop and a Parent Champion event. The parent champion event provides children with a chance to see a demonstration involving horse therapy.
Please note that the MASH help line number is 02083597335 open 10am to 11am daily.

Reading Corner
Sharing a book with a child is fun! It's a time for closeness, laughing and talking together – and it can also give children a flying start in life and help them become lifelong readers.
Getting your child reading may not always be easy, and you may need to try a few different things to help them. Reading together doesn’t have to mean sitting down and reading a book in one go. You could start by reading a few pages and go back to it later. You could also start by reading to them and getting them to listen and join in.
For your child, reading with you is also about spending time together – sit close together and hold the book between you to show that you’re both interested. Reading is a great habit. Like all habits, it needs repetition and regularity to establish itself.
So, this weekend, why not check out our reading recommendations which can be found on our school websites under curriculum/curriculum subjects/English: Reading. You will also find question prompts for KS1 and KS2, which you may find useful.
