What a fantastic week it has been at Brunswick! The children have been busy learning, exploring and sharing their ideas across all areas of the curriculum, showing curiosity, creativity and lots of enthusiasm along the way.
Next week, we are excited to celebrate National Storytelling Week, with a whole week packed full of fun activities for the children to enjoy. They will have the chance to share their favourite stories and jokes in class and in assembly – we’re ready to laugh together!
It has been such a busy and inspiring week, and we can’t wait to see what everyone achieves next week. Have a lovely weekend!
Children's Mental Health Week
Children’s Mental Health Week 2026 takes place this year between 9th and 15th February with the theme “This is My Place”, focusing on the importance of belonging. Throughout the week, children at Brunswick Park School will take part in activities, lessons, and discussions designed to strengthen their sense of belonging, self-worth, and connection to our school community.
In addition we are delighted to welcome back a familiar face, Adrian from Big Foot. He will be delivering engaging and fun assemblies for KS1 and KS2, exploring important themes about mental health in a way that is both informative and enjoyable for the children.
We look forward to supporting our pupils in feeling safe, valued, and confident to be themselves.

Reading Corner
Nursery received a Bookstart Pre-schooler pack this week from the BookTrust.
Taking the first steps towards reading is vital for children in their early years.
Reading is proven to be important, not just for a child’s development and educational achievement, but for their wellbeing and for building relationships.
Ideas and activities linked to the books inside the pack can be found at https://www.booktrust.org.uk/how-we-help/parents-families/
We hope our nursery families enjoy reading and sharing the stories together.
Have fun and experience the benefits that reading can bring.
Reading Ambassador Book Recommendation
The best thing about reading is that it keeps me entertained when I am bored and it takes me to another world. It also levels up my vocabulary and creativity.
My favourite story at the moment is ‘The Uncommoners’ by Jennifer Bell.
I love it because it is very adventurous and interesting. I really like fiction books with twists. It is quite hard to predict what will happen next, so it keeps you on your toes.
I think you will enjoy this book because it gets more fascinating as you read, which encourages you not to put the book down.
My favourite authors at present is Jennifer Bell.
I would like to read ‘The Smoking Hourglass’ by Jennifer Bell next, which is the second book in the sequel.

WHOLE-SCHOOL ORACY CHALLENGE
To support the development of oracy across Brunswick Park, we are holding a whole-school oracy challenge.
Pupils are to come prepared on Monday 2nd February to tell a joke to their class.
Jokes will be shared at appropriate times throughout the week, but one will be chosen by the class to share in Friday's achievement assembly.
The aim of this challenge is to change the volume, tone and pitch of one's voice to entertain an audience and make them laugh.
"Why did the rabbit skip school?" . . . "It had a bad hare day."
Sit back and laugh out loud!
The popular household game ‘Guess Who’ is great for developing oracy because it requires players to use descriptive language, formulate precise questions, and engage in active listening to win the game.
Why not play ‘Guess Who’ this weekend!
