Parent Newsletter number 19 07.02.20255
This week, Miss McCafferty and I have had a brilliant time joining science lessons across the school. We were incredibly impressed with our Brunswick Park scientists. The use of scientific vocabulary, scientific thinking and excellent subject knowledge shone throughout the school.
RB and RS have been learning about animals around the world. This week they focused on sea creatures, and took part in an Under the Sea drama workshop with Perform. They embarked on a sea adventure with a deep sea diver to rescue the lost pearl of the ocean from the scary deep sea creature.
Year 5 went on a geography field trip to Pymmes Brook in Oakhill Park. They worked in groups to take measurements of the depth, the width and the speed of the brook. The data Year 5 collected helped them to understand environmental changes.

Reading Corner
Over the last few days, we have had fun celebrating National Storytelling Week.
The week started with SLT acting out the story ‘Little Red Reading Hood’. All pupils from Reception to Year 6 enjoyed this.
Our reading ambassadors spread their pleasure for reading by sharing a range of picture books with our younger pupils in Nursery – Year 2. Our teachers also participated by sharing a story with another class.
Writing stories was also celebrated. All children in Year 1 – Year 3 and then Year 4 - Year 6 participated in creating a collaborative story, which was inspired by a single sentence stem. These stories have been shared with all classes today.
To end a fabulous week, a large number of certificates were presented in celebration assembly. These included our ‘Reading Hero’ certificates, but we also celebrated the success in the number of words each class has read this week.

Our Chinese New Year workshop was a huge success! The children had a fantastic time learning about the traditions and customs of this special holiday. We appreciate your support and look forward to sharing more cultural experiences with the children in the future.
Years 4, 5 & 6 did Brunswick Park so proud with their excellent listening and good behaviour during the workshop. They also performed so beautifully to the rest of the year groups, demonstrating everything they learnt in the workshop.
