I hope you have had a brilliant week. This week, our wow events have really started! Throughout the week, some classes have been on local area outings, some have taken part in Forest School, some have been on school trips, some have experienced a virtual workshop and some have visited our local library! Keep reading to find out about these fun-filled experiences! There are many more exciting learning experiences happening throughout the half term.
I wish you a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you next week.
Yesterday, RB and RS went into the woods to hear the story of The Gruffalo and partake in activities related to the story. They built a log pile house for the snake, a den for the fox, had a tea party with the owl and made the Gruffalo himself out of natural materials and play dough. The children even spotted a real fox racing past - the Forest School experience really brought the story to life!
This week year one went on a walk around our local area. They were brilliant geographers, identifying human and physical features and then creating a map of their route.
Year 3 had a brilliant time on Tuesday during their virtual workshop with Geobus.
They demonstrated fantastic retrieval of all their learning so far and their passion and enthusiasm for learning shone.
They are looking forward to developing their expertise on volcanoes and earthquakes when they visit the Natural History Museum next week.
Staff Recognition
Are you able to take a couple of minutes to recognise school staff for their hard work?
We will be alerted if a form is completed and we will then send this on to the member of staff. Taking a moment or two to share something positive about our wonderful staff can make such a difference to their day! Here is the direct link.

Routine Medical Appointments
The Local Authority has stressed the importance of not booking routine medical appointments during the school day. As a school, we and the Local Authority monitor this. For any appointments that are attended, we do require evidence.
Changes to Fixed Penalty Notice Fines For Absence
The Department For Education have made new rules about penalty fines for school absence. These came into force from August 2024. It is the responsibility of the local authority to decide when to issue fines to parents. Please see our Attendance Policy on our website for more information.
First Offence
The first time a Penalty Notice is issued for term time absence leave or irregular attendance the amount will be: £160 per parent per child if paid within 28 days. Reduced to £80 per parent per child if paid within 21 days.
Second offence (within 3 years)
The second time a Penalty Notice is issued for term time or irregular attendance the amount will be: £160 per parent per child to be paid within 28 days. No reduced rate will be offered.
Third offence and any Further Offences (within 3 years)
The third time an offence is committed for term time leave or irregular attendance a penalty notice will not be issued and the case will be presented straight to a Magistrate's Court. Magistrates fines can be up to £2500 per parent per child. Cases found guilty in Magistrate's Court can show on a parent's future DBS certificate due to failure to safeguard a child's education.
10 sessions (5 days) of Unauthorised Absence in a 10 Week Period
Penalty Notice fines will be considered when there have been 10 sessions of unauthorised absence in a 10 week period. Money raised via fines goes to the local authority and not to the school.
