Happy New Year - welcome back to the spring term 2025!
It has been brilliant to catch up with so many of you this week at morning drop-off or home time. Our Brunswick Park children have settled into the new term with enthusiasm and a real zest for learning. Classrooms are buzzing as children begin new interesting projects.
We have an exciting term ahead of us at Brunswick Park with so much to look forward to. Please keep your eyes peeled for the spring 1 curriculum information mats that will be emailed to you soon so you can keep up-to-date with the learning and experiences your child will be enjoying throughout this half term.
In assemblies this week, we have discussed the beginning of the new year and considered our goals for the term ahead. Throughout the half term, we will explore our school value: determination. Determination is the quality that you show when you have decided to do something and you will not let anything stop you. We will continue to enjoy learning about determination in upcoming assemblies and PSHE sessions. Please discuss this value with your child and encourage them to think about how they can be determined to achieve their goals, and how they do and can show determination in their lives.
Year 5
This week, all of year 5 were able to visit Tower Bridge in London. During this trip, they were able to learn about the key uses of the River Thames and the history behind why it was built. The children had a wonderful time and they look forward to using this key information in their learning!

Cold Weather
The weather has become very cold so it is important that your child wraps up warm for school and wears their coat every day. Please label all clothing (including hats, gloves and scarves) so that any lost items can be returned easily. Please don't forget to provide your child with a water bottle too (please ensure their name is on this too).
Dogs
Please may we remind you that dogs are not permitted in the school, nor should they be tied up to any fencing/railings inside or outside the grounds. Thank you for your understanding.
Reading Corner
Favourite books of the year, voted by teachers . . .
BooksforTopics asked their community to vote for their favourite children’s books published in 2024.
They invited teachers to vote for their best classroom read-alouds, the books that were the biggest hit with pupils and the top books to support the curriculum.
Here are the books that their community of teachers and librarians voted as their favourites.

Beau
During the autumn term, Beau successfully auditioned for an upcoming TV show for the BBC and had the incredible opportunity to film in Malaysia. I had the pleasure of speaking with Beau about this - keep reading to find out about his wonderful experience!
I was very excited because I travelled to Malaysia for an acting job - I am starring in a programme called 'Lord of the Flies'. I was in Malaysia for three months! The flight was very long - 12 hours! There will be 4 episodes which will each be 1 hour long. Lots of children auditioned for the programme and I was extremely lucky because I got a part. I had to learn lots of lines.
The day would begin by putting my costume on and then going to hair and makeup. Costume and hair/makeup were in special vans. My character is called Phil, and I had to look dirty because I was stranded on a desert island. Filming would begin very early in the morning.
To get there, I had to travel by bus and then travel by boat to an island - this is where filming happened! When acting, we had to be all over the shop because in the story there were no parents! My favourite part of filming was when a fire happened - we had to run around the beach. The props guy had three smoke machines which made it look as if there was a huge fire.
Whilst I was away, I made loads of new friends and we laughed a lot. I learnt to swim including underwater. I also went on a banana boat and fell off which was very funny.
I had a brilliant time and will remember this experience forever.
School Uniform
As it is a new year, please be reminded of our school uniform. Please make sure your child/children wear the correct uniform at all times.
