News from the Park
Parent Newsletter number 13 6.12.24 - There will be no newsletter next week.
To start the week, the Rock Steady rock stars performed in their first concert of the school year. It was a fantastic concert and had the audience clapping, singing and dancing along. We were blown away by their courage, talent and enthusiasm. A big well done to all our Rock Steady superstars!
Pantomime
Everybody had a fantastic time at The Pantomime “Jack & The Beanstalk” yesterday. Oh yes we did!!!! The children were beautifully behaved on the walk to and from Churchill (the rain even held off for us mostly). There was singing, dancing, laughing, and booing throughout all 3 performances. What a great way to kick start the festive season.
Learning Network Inspector
All schools in Barnet have a Learning Network Inspector who visit schools throughout the year. This week, we were visited by our Learning Network Inspector who came to see all the fantastic teaching and learning that goes on at Brunswick Park. She visited some classrooms and met with some teachers: she was incredibly impressed with the English, maths and history learning that she saw. She commented on the positive atmosphere and excellent behaviour across the school.
Reception
Reception had a great time at their 'little city' role play experience trip this week. This workshop was held at Church Hill School and they travelled there by minibus. They had an opportunity to think about lots of different people who help us and to dress up and act out different job roles within a city.
Year 1
Year 1 are running their own reverse advent calendar. A big thank you and well done to Year 1 for their contributions to the reverse advent calendar. All the generous donations will be delivered to Food Bank Aid before the end of term.
Year 4
Today, Year 4 kicked the weekend off with a fantastic flute and clarinet performance. Each week, I hear them playing their instruments on a Friday morning and the progress week to week is wonderful to hear. The concert was amazing and made us all very proud. Well done Year 4!
Year 6
Year 6 took part in a brilliant World War 2 workshop. Mr. Parsons led the workshop and children were given the opportunity to handle, wear and write about the variety of artefacts that were brought in. He also gave three separate presentations about what the role of the Air Raid Warden was on the Home Front. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day!
Christmas Fair
The Christmas Fair is today (4.30pm - 7.30pm)! It is going to be a brilliantly fun event and is the perfect way to start the festive season. We hope to see you there!
Reading corner
While Father Christmas is busy reading your Christmas lists, I wonder what you will be reading over the winter break?
How many of the following can you complete over the holiday?
Complete the grid and see me (Miss Jordan) to claim a prize when we come back to school in January!
Bone cancer plea for used stamps advertisement
Dear Friends,
I am writing to you on behalf of Friends of Bone Cancer Research Trust (charity number 1159590) in the UK to ask for your help at any time! We are a group of people throughout the UK and around the world who are raising funds independently for this wonderful charity and we need help worldwide. We are DESPERATE for used postage stamps from anywhere around the world and were hoping that your school community could help us by asking staff, pupils, parents, carers and anyone else that you can think of!
We are appealing for your support by asking everyone to save their used, obsolete and new postage stamps from the UK and overseas, horizon labels (the gold or white labels that the UK post office stick on everything instead of stamps), in fact anything philatelic. Every stamp sent to us will help to fund life-saving research into primary bone cancer. If you can print the details in any editorials or onto websites and via social media links we would be so grateful.
Our Facebook group is called ‘Friends Of BCRT – Postage Stamps & More!’. Stamp appeal updates will be added often. Please join as more members we have the more money and awareness we will raise. The address to send postage stamps to is Friends Of BCRT, 20 Bowers Road, BENFLEET, Essex, England, SS7 5PZ or for more information please email charitystampappeal@gmail.com .
Primary bone cancer can occur at any age, but affects mostly children, teenagers, young adults and the elderly. Every 10 minutes somewhere in the world someone is diagnosed with primary bone cancer. Collecting used stamps is a simple way to make a huge difference.
Thank you for your time.
Kind regards
Terri Bush
