There is a real buzz in the air as we begin getting ready for Christmas at Brunswick Park. Please keep reading to find out about some of the exciting learning experiences that have taken place this week, and to find out more about our upcoming Christmas Fair (taking place next Friday 4.30pm - 7.30pm).
Have a wonderful weekend!
Year 6
Year 6 went to the RAF museum on Tuesday and took part in the 'Air Raid!' workshop. They learnt about the different uniforms that were worn during WW2 for the different jobs, and had a talk with an Air Raid warden who showed them what to do when the air raid siren went off. It was a fun-filled informative day!
Year 5 history workshop
We had an amazing experience day through a drama workshop. We got a feel of daily life at the time of the Golden Age of Islam by working on scene setter activities – at the market, in the House of Wisdom, being a caliph or a scholar and fight as a Mongolian soldier. Through performance activities and role play, we learned and explored information on The House of Wisdom, its importance and uses, the importance of the River Tigris to Early Islamic society for travel and farming and how society was governed, by the Caliphs in the Caliphates.
Reception
This week Reception had a wonderful, informative talk from Ayana and Annalise's mum about her job as a radiographer. Reception are currently learning about different jobs and people who help us. If any other parents/carers or family members of any child in the school would be interested in visiting the current reception cohort to speak about their jobs, please get in touch!
Reading corner
Thank you to everyone who purchased new books from our Book Fair. Our grand total needs to be double checked, but we are in the region of £600. Travelling books will be in contact with us in due course to share the amount that we can spend on new books for our school library.
Books make a superb choice for Christmas gifts for children. From timeless bedtime stories and curious information books to festive favourites. BookforTopics have put a recommended book list together for Christmas, which includes something for all tastes.

Communication Reminder
A polite reminder that we do not monitor messages sent via Class Dojo. If you need to contact school staff, please email the school office, and your message will be forwarded to staff promptly.
Important information can be missed on Class Dojo; using the school office is the most efficient and reliable way to reach us. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Child Car Seat Checking Events – your views matter
Around 90 child car seats were checked by an expert from Good Egg during six events in Barnet with a total of 180 errors reported. The events took place in supermarket carparks during August – October 2024 and future events are planned next year. We’d love to hear your thoughts on how we can host these events to best meet your needs. Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey: Child Car Seat Survey or scan the QR code.
Attendance
As you will be aware, schools are required to closely monitor children's attendance at school and contact families individually if their child(ren)'s attendance is a concern. We would like to take this opportunity to remind all our families that, for the sake of their social skills, friendships, progress and attainment, it is absolutely vital for children to be at school as much as possible, and that they should only be kept away from school when they are definitely not well enough to attend.
Holidays must not be taken in term time and even if we are informed in advance, we are not able to authorise absence of this nature.
