PE Team Newsletter
Girls Football tournament
Our girls’ football team delivered an outstanding performance at the recent tournament held at Compton Power League. From the moment the competition began, the team demonstrated impressive skill, determination, and teamwork.
In the group stages, the girls were unbeaten, showcasing strong defensive organisation and creative attacking play. One of the standout moments of the tournament was their excellent victory over Underhill, a match in which the team showed real confidence, resilience, and commitment to every challenge.
Although the team worked incredibly hard, they were unfortunately unable to battle their way through the quarter-final. The girls played with passion and positivity throughout and represented the school exceptionally well, both in their performance and their sportsmanship. They should be extremely proud of everything they achieved.
Boys football matches
The boys’ football team delivered their most accomplished performance yet in their first league game of the season. From the outset, the team played with confidence, control, and excellent teamwork.
There were exceptional performances all around, but it was ultimately a superb collective effort that secured their well-deserved victory. Goals from James and Gael gave Brunswick a commanding 2–0 lead, showcasing the team’s attacking quality.
At the other end of the pitch, heroics from Charlie in goal, supported brilliantly by his defence, kept the visitors out of the game and ensured the clean sheet was protected right to the final whistle.
It was a fantastic start to the season, and the team should be incredibly proud of both their performance and their result.
Netball tournament
Our netball side visited Copthall School to take part in the Barnet Netball Tournament, an exciting opportunity for the team—especially those who are still new to competitive matches—to continue developing their skills and confidence.
Despite the cold conditions and tight competition, the team showed great spirit and determination throughout the afternoon. After a challenging opening match against the eventual group winners, Brunswick responded brilliantly. They finished the remainder of their games unbeaten, securing one victory and two well-earned draws.
Although this wasn’t quite enough to progress to the semi-finals, the team should be extremely proud of their performance. They demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience, and a positive attitude from start to finish
Y2 Sports festival
A group of our Year 2 students visited Hendon to take part in a vibrant and exciting multi-sport festival. The event offered a wide range of sporting activities, giving the children the chance to try new experiences and develop their skills. Activities included rugby, rowing machines, basketball, boccia, and new age kurling.
The festival was wonderfully supported by secondary school students and local sports clubs, who helped run a variety of inclusive and engaging stations. Their encouragement and guidance created a warm, supportive atmosphere that allowed all pupils to participate confidently.
They had an amazing afternoon, enthusiastically exploring each activity, learning new skills, and enjoying the fun challenges throughout the day.
Children in Need
The children had a fantastic day last Friday supporting Children in Need.
Bear Pong was a huge success again. Together we raised a massive £770.00 for Children in Need! We can’t thank you enough for your support and generosity supporting this wonderful charity.
And a huge thank you to Miss Heath for organising another fun packed fun day.
Winter is here
The weather is definitely getting cold now. Please ensure children come to school wrapped up - please label all items of clothing including hats, scarves and gloves so that they can easily be returned if they get lost.

We have secured the brilliant Chaplins Pantomime Company to come and visit Churchill School on 17th December to perform Dick Wittington. They will do 3 performances over the course of the day so that all children from both schools can enjoy the show.
The Cost of this is £7 per child to be paid on SchoolMoney.

Battle of the Rockstars

Have fun!
Chatter Matters
IT’S GOOD TO TALK!
World Nursery Rhyme Week is good for oracy because rhymes help children develop vocabulary, improve pronunciation, build memory, and gain confidence in speaking through repetitive, rhythmic, and playful language. The structured patterns and sounds of nursery rhymes create a pressure-free environment for children to practice speech, experiment with different tones, and learn about sentence structure.
Can you guess which Nursery Rhymes are being shown in the following illustrations?
Once the rhyme has been guessed correctly, why not sing the rhyme together.
Reading Corner
Thank you to everyone who purchased new books from our Book Fair.
We will let you know how much we have raised for the school once everything has been counted.
Our new Reading Ambassadors are doing a great job. Thank you all for keeping the library tidy and for helping to publicise our recent reading competition and book fair. Your support and enthusiasm is always extremely appreciated.
Reception and Nursery have had a fabulous week celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week.
They enjoyed a high-energy, active musical session with Simmy, had fun guessing a range of Nursery Rhymes from a selection of objects with Miss Jordan and enjoyed singing along with our Reading Ambassadors.
Nursery enjoyed coming into school today dressed as their favourite Nursery Rhyme characters and Reception made their own masks.
A fabulous week was had by all.
