Welcome back to the new school year!
On behalf of the entire Brunswick Park staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the start of a new school year.
It has been wonderful to see all our Brunswick Park children and families this week. Everyone has settled in seamlessly - our school is full of lots of happy children who are already impressing staff with their hard work and positive choices. For those of you whose children have attended our school in the past, welcome back! For those of you whose children are starting their Brunswick journey with us, we are pleased to have you as part of our school community.
Across the school, there is a real buzz as the children are ready and raring to go with their learning; there have been lots of happy faces and beaming smiles. I have been blown away by everyone's enthusiasm and beautiful manners - keep it up Brunswick Park! I am in the playground at the start and end of the school day so please do come and say hello.
I look forward to seeing what this year has in store and celebrating our Brunswick Park children's achievements and successes with you.
All Brunswick Park staff look forward to working with you and experiencing another successful year.
Value
Friendship is our value of the half term. We will explore the theme of caring friendships within assemblies, PSHE lessons and circle time. Please discuss what friendship means to your child and how they can be a wonderful caring friend to others.
Meet the Teacher sessions
Please refer to the 'dates for your diary' section below to see when your child's 'meet the teacher' session is.
This will be an opportunity for staff to share curriculum information with you and for you to see your child’s classroom and ask any questions.
These sessions start at 9.00am and will last approximately 20 minutes. After morning drop off, we kindly ask you to wait outside the school office. When staff are ready, a member of the Senior Leadership Team will walk you round to the classrooms.
Key Stage 2 playtime snacks
We encourage children in years 3 - 6 to bring in a snack for morning break (EYFS and KS1 are provided with fruit). The snack should be fruit or vegetables. Please do not provide your child with crisps, chocolate or any unhealthy snacks.
School Uniform
Please be reminded that children should wear correct uniform at all times, including PE kit. Long hair should be tied back. Children should not wear sandals to school or wear any jewellery apart from a watch (no smart watches) or stud earrings - this is to keep children safe from injury. We thank you for your understanding.
Communication
All communication from school will be sent from the school office (text or email). We ask that you regularly check your texts and emails to ensure you do not miss out on important information.
If you wish to contact a member of staff or arrange a meeting, please email or phone the school office.
At Brunswick Park, we try our very best to respond to you as soon as possible. Please note that we will reply to all queries, however, non-urgent emails will be replied to at our earliest convenience.
Class Dojo will not be monitored for messages but will continue to be used as the platform for weekly homework.
If your child is in EYFS, Tapestry will continue to be used.
Security
You may have noticed polite notice signs on some of our school gates asking you to not let anyone on to the school site. All visitors need to be identified by school staff before entering the premises: this is to ensure the safety of our school community. Thank you for your cooperation and helping to ensure everyone is safe at Brunswick Park.
What to do if my child is unwell
We follow guidance from the NHS when advising if your child should be kept off school due to illness. Please click the link below to view the guidance.
Please remember that after any sickness or diarrhoea children must be kept off school for 48 hours.

Year 3
On Wednesday, a Stone Age woman visited Year 3 and took the children back 52,000 years into prehistory. Dressed in animal skins, she kindly invited the Year 3 children into her cave and demonstrated her unique painting techniques. Using berries, mud and sharpened stick, she drew buffalo and bison being chased by hunter-gatherers. The children thoughtfully answered the Stone Age woman's questions, then went back into their classrooms to make their own cave paintings. They loved staining their fingers with blackberry juice and creating wonderful hunting scenes. What a brilliant start to Year 3's new history topic on the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages!
Macmillan Coffee Morning - Save the Date - Friday 27 September
Some of our children will be running a Macmillan Coffee Morning after drop off on Friday 27 September. Further details will be included in future newsletters so this is just a heads up so you can put the date in your calendar.
British Food Fortnight
To celebrate British Food Fortnight, our kitchen staff will be offering a slightly altered menu on Wednesday 25th September. Please see the menu.
Pre loved uniform
We have lots of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 uniform in our recycled uniform bank outside Tracy's room (please note this is different to the lost property boxes outside the studio). You are welcome to come and have a look if you have not managed to get all of the uniform for your child or would like a spare set of clothes. We also have a limited number of school bags that are in good condition.
Rhyme Time and Story Time
Please see the advert for this successful and friendly group which was started by two former Brunswick Park parents. Everyone is welcome. They have a huge number of lovely books donated by the Booktrust, which they use for story times and there is there opportunity to play musical instruments.
