Excitement was in the air this week as School Council elections took place. Well done to everyone who ran for election.
Today, we hosted our Macmillan Coffee Morning and cake sale. We could not have done this without the amazing help of our parent volunteers and super team of pupil helpers. Thank you to everyone who supported this event!
Reading Corner
It’s easy to feel lost in the flood of so many new children’s books available. Here are five recently published favourites. Book reviews can be found on BooksforTopics.
Why not try to find these books in a local Barnet Library or local book shop!
This week, expectations for our 2024-2025 Reading Ambassadors were shared with Year 4 and 5. If you are in Year 4 or 5 and would like to be part of the team running the library – issuing and returning books, helping pupils use the library, shelving books, tidying the library, promoting the library and new books – then please complete an application form and return to Miss Jordan by Friday 4th October.
We are looking forward to getting our new team of Reading Ambassadors together.
North London Hospice
It is almost time to say goodbye to the owls! If you have not spotted any owls yet, you’ve got until 13th October to take part – just three more weekends! There are some great rewards up for grabs on the app too when you collect certain large sculptures (hint: Multicultural in Finsbury Park has a competition to win tickets to Latitude Festival and if you can find Wildflower Meadow-owl you can win tickets to Chessington). To download the free app, just search Big Fun Art Adventure wherever you get your apps. If you prefer, there are paper maps available at our shops, The Mall in Wood Green (guest services on the first floor) and libraries on the trail.
Owly Farewell week!
All 55 owls – including ours – will be on display at an indoor venue in Tottenham Hale during half term (Saturday 26th October to Friday 1st November). The venue is no more than a five-minute walk from the tube. It’s free to attend, but please book so that numbers can be managed.
Festival Market
There will be a Festival Market in Finchley on Sunday 8th December to celebrate the 40th anniversary for the North London Hospice. Details below.
Parking
It is unfortunate that we are having to mention the problems with parking and inconsiderate road use once again. Please be respectful to those around you and treat the safety of those around as you would expect from others. This is to ensure the safety of our Brunswick Park community, especially our children.
School photo day
Individual school photos are taking place on Tuesday 15th October. Should you wish for your child to be photographed with a non Brunswick Park sibling, please bring them to the studio between 8am and 8.30am.
