Carroty Wood
The Year 4 children had a fabulous time at Carroty Wood. All the children threw themselves (sometimes bodily!!) into every activity on offer and their enthusiasm and courage to be adventurous and challenge themselves, made me, Miss K and Miss Flora extremely proud!
Well done Year 4 – you are AMAZING!
We’re still Listening!
Thank you to all the parents and carers who have already taken the time to complete the survey sent to families recently. Your feedback is extremely valuable and helps us to understand your views and experiences as part of our school community.
In response to the comments already received, we are beginning to establish a parent–school working group that will look at ways we can continue to improve communication. Our aim is to ensure that families feel well informed about school events, arrangements and the experiences their children are having at Church Hill School.
If you have not yet completed the survey, I would strongly encourage you to do so by clicking on the link below. The more responses we receive, the better we can understand the thoughts, feelings and wishes of our families and ensure we continue to develop the very best experience for our children at Church Hill School.
Parent/carer Consultations
Parent/carer consultations will take place this half term and we look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child(ren)’s progress and attainment.

Barnet Library
Barnet Libraries like to invite your pupils, parents, carers and teaching staff to attend our Libraries Festival to meet award winning authors Steven Butler and Joshua Seigal.
They will be talking about their books with lots of fun and games and a poetry open mic session!
Both events are free with a ticket booking.
The Mayor’s Visit
On Thursday 5th March, we held a very special and important assembly to welcome our new School Council members. We were delighted to be joined by the worshipful, Mayor of Barnet, who helped celebrate this exciting moment with our pupils at Church Hill School.
During the assembly, each School Council member was presented with their special School Council badge. They will now wear these badges with pride as they represent the voices and ideas of their classmates.
We are very proud of our new council members and look forward to seeing all the wonderful ideas and contributions they will bring to help make our school an even better place for everyone.
World Book Day
We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day at school with a range of exciting activities designed to promote a love of reading. Teachers took part in a class teacher swap, visiting different year groups to share stories and introduce children to new books. We also held a House Reading Swap, where children came together in their houses, with EYFS and KS1 pupils reading aloud to KS2. It was lovely to see the older children encouraging and supporting the younger readers.
The whole school also enjoyed a fantastic Dance Through Story workshop with West End Schools, where each year group helped bring the story of Pinocchio to life through performance. It was a brilliant experience for the children and wonderful to see everyone involved. We were also incredibly impressed by the creative costumes worn by the children – thank you for your support in making the day so special. To continue promoting a love of reading, every child in the school also received a free book this week, giving them the opportunity to enjoy a new story at home.
Our Book Fair will be taking place after school next week in the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds. Please note that moving forward we will be accepting card payments only. Payments can be made via your phone at the fair, so please ensure you have your card details to hand. We cannot accept payments via Apple Pay.
We look forward to seeing you there and continuing to celebrate a love of reading together .
Shared Story
As part of National Story Telling Week, the children at Church Hill wrote an amazing shared story about Miss Porter’s adventures with a unicorn and a giant jelly bean! Miss Porter read the story out in assembly on Friday 6th February and we sent it to parents and carers with a previous email.
Over half term the children were challenged to choose a title and create a front cover for the story book and we have already received some fabulously creative entries!
So, Church Hill children, if you haven’t already entered, you still have time – the closing date for the competition is next Friday (13th) and the winner(s) will be announced in Celebration the following week (20th).

It has been a busy few weeks of football, with lots of children representing Church Hill at different events.
Last Friday our Year 3 and 4 girls took part in the Barnet football tournament. As it was the first time they had played together as a team, they took on the challenge with great determination and enthusiasm. Well done girls – you were incredible!
Today our Year 3 boys headed to the mixed tournament, scoring some fantastic goals and making some brilliant saves. Just like the girls, the boys had never played a game together before, but they did not let this stop them. Finishing 3rd in their group, the boys should also be very proud of themselves.
Our Year 5 and 6 boys also played their Dick Bailey Cup quarter-final this week against Northside Primary School. It was another incredible performance, with the boys coming away with a 3–0 win. Preparations for the semi-finals now begin!
