Parent Newsletter 4 29/9/2023

Excitement was in the air this week as School Council elections took place. Well done to everyone who ran for election and congratulations to our new School Councillors.

Earlier this week, Year 5 went on a brilliant trip to the Royal Gunpowder Mills. They had a fantastic time making and firing rockets! Year 5 wowed their teachers with their curiosity and great questioning to deepen their understanding.

It was wonderful to see so many of you at last night's PTA Pamper Evening. Thank you to the PTA for organising such a brilliant event and to all those who came along to support. It was a great success and we look forward to future PTA events.

To end the week, we hosted our Macmillan Coffee Morning and cake/fruit sale. We could not have done this without the amazing help of our parent volunteers and super team of pupil helpers. Thank you to everyone who supported this event!

Reading corner

We are often asked the question, "What should my child be reading?"  The simple answer is anything they like! Children should read whatever interests them.  However, if you are looking to suggest books to expand your child's field of interest try Books for Topic's Recommended Reads.  We have given all children a copy of this year's recommendations, which include a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction to interest all readers.  We have many of these books in our library or they will be available at your local library.

Our KS1 book club is now up and running for children in years 1-3 on Tuesday lunchtimes.  Our pupil librarians are on hand and eager to give advice and help children choose appropriate books to read.

Theresa Villiers MP Christmas Card Competition 2023

Theresa Villiers MP is running a Christmas card competition for children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The competition is optional.
