Here is a little bit about me...
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
I am delighted to introduce myself as the School Counsellor at Ecole Leduc Junior High School. As the new academic year unfolds, I am excited to have the opportunity to work with you all and provide valuable support to our students.
I firmly believe that a strong partnership between school, home, and the community can significantly contribute to a student's overall success and well-being. My role as a school counsellor is to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where each student can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
I have worked as a school counsellor for nearly 10 years in Black Gold School Division at both the junior high and high school levels. I have my Masters in Counselling Psychology and active registration as a Canadian Certified Counsellor through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I believe this experience equips me to address a wide range of student needs. Whether your child is navigating mental health challenges, academic goals, social struggles or anything in between, I am here to offer guidance, understanding, and a listening ear.
Some of the services I provide include:
Individual Counseling: Offering a confidential space for students to discuss personal concerns, develop coping strategies, and set goals.
Group Workshops: Organizing workshops on topics such as stress management, study skills, conflict resolution, and more.
Social-Emotional Learning: Collaborating with teachers to integrate social and emotional skills into the curriculum, promoting emotional intelligence and resilience.
Parent Collaboration: Partnering with parents/guardians to support their child's academic and emotional growth through open communication and resources.
I am dedicated to building a positive rapport with each student and creating a nurturing environment where they feel valued and understood. Please feel free to reach out to me via email or phone to schedule an appointment or discuss any concerns you may have. Open lines of communication between school and home are vital, and I am committed to working together to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.
I am looking forward to a successful and enriching academic year ahead. Let us join hands to empower our students to achieve their full potential and become well-rounded individuals.
Warm regards,
Leaha Severson
