AI Tools for Teachers

These are the AI tools that made the cut. Check them out! See my very official rating system below.

Google's AI model. New 2.5 release June 2025. Students in grade 7 and up can use Gemini with their Google accounts in a data safe environment.

Canva has multiple Generative AI tools including Magic Write, Magic Design, Text to Image, and a bulk create app that allows you to do basically a mail merge within Canva.

For students go to any design, elements, create your own.

Brisk Teaching is an AI extension that does a lot, including checking for AI generated writing, creating lesson plans and quizzes, Slides, Forms, changing writing level, feedback, and more. BGSD teachers have the premium version of extension! Check out the Brisk Boost activities for students. Now with Slides translation and creation from images.

Chat GPT. The OG of generative AI releases.

Read Along: Google’s new speech-based reading tutor app. “Built with AI, it helps young readers learn the way they're used to - by reading out loud.” Now available within Google Classroom.

MagicSchool is a free interface with guides for what you can do and boxes to fill so you don’t need to know how to write a prompt. It includes a pretty good chat bot to help you. Text-based production in a sidebar. Creates all kinds of activities and content to be copied and pasted. There is a student portal.

Slides Translator is also available to all Black Gold Teachers. In Slides, look for it in your extensions and add ons. It will translate an entire slide deck with one click and also has a read aloud component.

Quizizz is a great quiz game site, now with MANY AI features for question creation from a variety of sources. SUPER SITE!

They also have an extension that will turn any webpage into a Quizizz quiz!

SchoolAI has an interesting twist that other AI teacher tools don't have, a student interface that gives you insights. The chatbot is great at supplying ideas for unit plans, lesson plans, hands-on activities, etc.

Currently (June. 2025) most tools for teachers are running on either Gemini, Chat or Claude. That will probably change with the next generation of models.

Eduaide This is a less intuitive interface than MagicSchool. It can do a lot, but is still text-based production in a sidebar. Lots of Categories that make you need to know where you’re looking.

Curipod Plan and deliver interactive lessons and students enter Pins for live interactivity. This one is really good, like Pear Deck on AI steroids.

Diffit allows teachers to create leveled resources instantly including leveled texts, then comprehension questions based on those readings.

Project Read: AI powered tutor for the Science of Reading and UFLI decodables. I wish the platform was better!

Reading Coach is Microsoft's AI reading assessment tool.
