Learning how to use the painting tools is a great place to start. Simple colouring. Use gradients if you want to!Â
Some of the easiest first lessons involve simply painting shapes. Use the paint format tool to paint the butterfly.
An extension of this below is a lesson in which the STUDENTS create these artworks based on photos.
For added skills and a little more complexity and interest, these next projects encourage students to use colour pickers and gradients. Â
This is the shape used for stars. Drag the orange handle to make it thicker. REMOVE the border, make it white. Shrink with ctrl alt j.
Creating these emojis with shapes helps students get familiar with manipulating and colouring shapes and inserting PNGs.

This is a FUN varation of the abstract art theme where students create "graffiti art" and duplicate the slides with the option of creating a fin GIF. Trish's Sample You can find colour palettes on a site like Coolers or, even better the Explore page of Adobe Color!
