New Updates
State Changes this year. Extended Day Full time is 20 hours per month and Part time is 10 hours per month. The state is checking more closely than ever since this is Federal allowances so we need to make sure that we follow the guidelines carefully.
Every teacher must have a CTAERN account that is updated with their current pathway information
CTAE Extended Day Grant cannot be used for Middle School teachers, per State Board Rule 160-4-3-.11
Building administrators cannot receive CTAE Extended Day.
Extended Day Grant is for full-time High School CTAE teachers of record.
CTAE Extended Day is not required for all CTAE teachers or for all CTSO advisors.
New teachers to the Griffin-Spalding County School District have the option of becoming an advisor during their second year with the district, as much of the first year will be spent mastering pedagogical skills and district processes. (Does not apply to teachers with prior CTSO Advisor experience.).
To have multiple Extended Day Teachers for a CTSO, you must have more than 10 students.
If you are not completing your POW requirements you may not receive pay for that time period until you are able to complete the work. If you complete less than 90% of your POW for the year, you will be placed on a Plan of Action. If this happens for more than one year, you will not eligible for extended day funds for the next year.
Requirements
Every teacher receiving CTAE Extended Day Grant funds must be completing the Monthly Activities:
Off Contract time
Activity description and travel to CTSO events
Number of contacts (students, business leaders, etc)
Minimum number of hours per month are recorded
Monitored by CTAE AP and CTAE Director
Enter all activities by the 5th of each month.
Monthly Activities DO NOT include regular classroom requirements, such as:
Cleaning Lab
Grading Papers
Calling parents
Afterschool activity that doesn't involve CTSO and students
Application Process:
The application process opens usually in March/April and will be emailed to all High School Teachers that qualify.
Go into CTAERN and apply for the year.
Monthly Process:
Go into CTEARN to your POW and enter your monthly activities by the 5th of each month
Print off the page and give your CTAE AP to sign off
They will provide that sheet to the CTAE Coordinator who will sign off each month
If you don't have exactly 20 each month it will be okay because some months with long holidays (i.e. December) will be hard to fit that into it but there are other months that you will make up for it close by. Just be careful to reach 112 hours for Full time and 56 hours for Part time by the end of the year. If this happens for multiple months, this can affect your Extended Day pay.
End of Year Process:
Go into CTEARN to your POW and make sure that you have completed each month.
Submit your finalized POW activities.
