A fad diet is a diet for a certain period of time without being a standard or a balanced diet. It promises short term changes with little efforts. Many people prefer trying the quick fix of a fad diet instead of making the effort to lose weight through long-term changes in their eating and exercise habits. There are many advantages and disadvantages of having a fad diet.
Few of the advantages are:
•They appeal to people by promising weight loss that is quick and easy.
•It’s cheap to furnish and very easy to prepare.
•Sometimes, it helps lessen the risk of diabetes and hypertension.
Few disadvantages of fad diet are:
•It can cause nutritional deficiencies and lead to additional health problems.
•Fad diet looks tempting as it helps us burn some calories and with minimal efforts , though after returning to normal diet we will gain weight again.
If you wish to lose weight then consult a doctor. Millions of people fall prey to fad diets and weight loss products, but in reality, no diet or pill can magically burn fat. Try exercising on a regular basis and consume healthy food to lose weight.

A food fad diet is a type of diet in which quick weight loss approximately 2 Kg per week is offered but it is hazardous for our health and can lead to cardiovascular and mental diseases like depression and can also lead to dental risk . Chicken sandwiches , avocado toast , etc. are some examples of food items that are included in food - fad diets.
They alter our food and eating patterns and restrict a particular dietary plan which mostly restricts to fruit and vegetable juices . It also leads to nutrient - loss as many specific nutrients which are healthy for us aren't found in food - fad diets' items .
They reduce carbs from our diet but carbs aren't always bad for our body . They don't have a standard dietary plan that is set - up in such a way that fails to realize that about 1 pound weight loss per week is considered as a healthy weight loss. They fail to teach dieters about a healthy nutrition .
Thus , everyone should realize that HEALTH IS WEALTH and so, a fad diet shouldn't be taken without a proper research.

What is a Fad Diet?
A fad diet is a popular diet that usually promises weight loss. It does not follow healthy eating guidelines.
Why are Fad Diets Harmful?
They can be too low in calories and one would not get enough energy. By cutting out major groups of food, one won’t get the nutrients that his/her body needs to be healthy. If one loses weight too quickly and there is no support to help you keep the weight off, you could get stuck in a cycle of weight loss and weight gain.
Disadvantages of Fad Diets
Is rigid and does not fit into your lifestyle or state of health.
Cuts out major food categories (like gluten or carbohydrates) and stops you from enjoying your favourite foods.
Forces you to buy the company’s foods or supplements rather than show you how to make better choices from a grocery store.
Uses “counsellors” who are salespeople. Weight management counsellors should not make a commission from anything you buy.
Gives you nutrition advice that is based on testimonials rather than scientific evidence.
Promotes unproven ways to lose weight such as starch blockers, fat burners and colonic cleanses.
Does not encourage physical activity.
