The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive Officer of the University and is the accounting officer of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor is appointed for a term of three years by the President, upon the recommendation of the Commission, from a panel of three names recommended by the Council of that University not more than two consecutive terms.
The Vice-Chancellor is a full-time officer of the University, and is the principal executive officer and principal academic officer.
He/she is an ex officio member and the chairman of the Council and the Senate.
The Vice-Chancellor is entitled to convene, be present, and speak at any meeting of any other authority of the University or other body but not be entitled to vote at any such meeting unless he/she is a member of such other authority or other body.
It shall be the duty of the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with such directions as may from time to time be lawfully issued to him on that behalf by the Council, to ensure that the provisions of the university act and any appropriate Instrument are duly observed. He/she has and may exercise all such powers as he/she may deem necessary for the purpose.
The Vice-Chancellor is the Accounting Officer of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor holds office for a term of three years or until he/she has completed his/her sixty-fifth year, whichever event occurs earlier, unless he/she vacates office earlier or is removed from office.
The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for the execution of policies and measures approved by the Council in relation to the University and, subject to such policies, the direction, supervision, and control of the university, including its administration, and for the maintenance of discipline within the University. This includes academic leadership, institutional management, External Relations, Strategic Planning, fundraising, student and faculty affairs, accreditation, quality assurance, and compliance.
