Welcome to the Statistics & Information Division

OVERVIEW

The key function of the Statistics and Information Division is to collect and store statistics and information for the benefit of researchers and decision makers. This Division liaises with all other Faculties/ Institutes/ Units/ Centers/ Divisions to maintain a continuous flow of information.


Providing information and Statistics on requests made by individuals and Institutions are regularly attended by the Unit. Specially Statistical reports are prepared for the UGC, Labour Department, Central Bank, Department of Census and Statistics, and Census of Public and Semi-Government Sector Employment. Carry out the Census of Population, and Employment Survey for the University community on request of the Department of Census and Statistics are done by this Division

The publications such as University Calendar, Annual Report, Statistical Handbook, Newsletter, Sustainability Report, Circular books, etc. are collated in this Division.

Databases of Staff, Students, all Heads of Academic Departments and Non-Academic Divisions, Wardens and Student Counselors are maintained and updated in this Unit. The Division conduct an Annual Employability Survey of students to identify the degree of employability of graduates in the public and private sector higher education institutes.

Another task of this Unit is assisting the web committee to maintain an updated website of the University.

✍🏻 Maintain a staff database for facilitating to provide figures

✍🏻 Compilation of UGC Circulars as volumes

✍🏻 Assist the Committee in organizing the events of the Convocation

✍🏻 Assist to maintain an Updated University Web Site

✍🏻       Maintain a computerized data base(Google Sheets) for sorting the information

Highlights of the year 2024

1. Collection of Management Information for the year 2023 on Faculty/ Departments/ Institutes/ Centre & Units in the University of Peradeniya via computerized data base (Google Sheets) for sorting the   information and for retrieval when required.

2. Submit the Draft Annual Report 2023 to the Auditor General on February 27, 2024

3. The University Calendar 2023/24 has been launched on April 09, 2024

4. Census of Public and Semi Government Sector Employment Survey (2024) 

5. Information for Higher Education Management 2024 - Mid Year Data send to the University Grants Commission on September 13, 2024

6. Published the University News Bulletin (Volume 16 No. 01) on September 18, 2024

7. Published the Statistical Handbook on September 19, 2024

8. The Annual Report 2023 was submitted to obtain the approval of the Sub Committee concerned in order to place them at the Parliament on September 18, 2024
