We make new molecules. The research in our lab is driven by curiosity and we want to know how molecules behave under extreme conditions. Due to the extreme air- and moisture-sensitivity of these molecules, we perform these chemical reactions under an inert atmosphere, for example, N
2 and argon. Once we successfully make them, we will use several characterization techniques such as single crystal X-ray crystallography, powder diffraction, electronic absorption spectroscopy, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, SQUID magnetometry, and EPR spectroscopy.
