Our Planet:Exploration of Environmental and Ocean Music Course is a unique experience that integrates language, music, environmental conservation, and cross-cultural exchange, aiming to inspire students' care and responsibility towards the Earth. Firstly, we invite experts in marine conservation to share their knowledge about marine ecology, biodiversity, and environmental protection with students. Subsequently, music teachers will teach students to analyze music pieces related to environmental issues and organize music performances on campus, allowing students to express their concerns about the ocean through music. Meanwhile, we will establish cross-cultural exchanges with schools in other countries or regions through network connections and cooperative projects, enabling students to understand the challenges and solutions of marine conservation in different areas and broaden their horizons. Additionally, we plan to organize outdoor practical activities focusing on marine conservation themes such as beach cleaning and coral reef conservation, and film documentaries to allow students to experience the importance of marine conservation firsthand. This course will provide students with a comprehensive ocean education experience, stimulating their curiosity and cultivating them to become future ocean guardians.
To enrich the course experience, students will engage in exchanges with schools in the Kingdom of Tonga located in the South Pacific. Tonga and Taiwan are both island nations with shared concerns about marine issues. Every year from June to October, humpback whales migrate to Tonga for breeding, providing us with a rare opportunity to experience marine ecology firsthand, and we should bring what we have learned back to the classroom and share it with the students.
