Why Support GRWW?

We are a volunteer-led organization that has been officially established as a 501c3 entity. Our main activities are water quality sampling, outreach and education, and promoting local water improvements.

Over 150 sites throughout the Green and Tradewater River Basin are currently monitored three times per year, extending the reach and resources of Kentucky's natural resource agencies.

All donations will be put toward sampling supplies, laboratory assessment fees, and GRWW's annual conference.

GRWW wants to expand our volunteer base and increase water quality awareness and improvements.

Since 1997, we have trained hundreds of volunteer samplers to test water quality in streams of interest to them.

These trained volunteers have sampled over 200 sites in streams, springs, rivers and lakes using GRWW test kits and sampling protocols.

GRWW samplers are informed citizens who are able to detect changes and possible impacts to the health of waterways throughout the Green River Basin.

Staff and funding resources limit the ability of Kentucky's Division of Water to visit and sample all of the waterbodies in the state. For example, the Division's 2016 Integrated Report to Congress on Water Quality noted that only 14% of Kentucky's approximately 91,100 miles of streams had been formally assessed. Local volunteers have the ability to provide a much greater reach through their sampling efforts.

Green River Watershed Watch gratefully accepts donations of any amount for our general activities.

Or, feel free to designate their use for something specific--such as sampling supplies or lab analysis,
sampling in a specific community or on a specific waterbody, or for GRWW meetings or outreach efforts.

Please consider making a donation to Green River Watershed Watch.

100% of donated funds will be used to support citizen science!
