GarageBand is an Apple program that can be downloaded from the Self-Service application on your MacBook.
Open GarageBand and select Empty Project to start your podcast. Allow GarageBand to access the microphone if prompted.
A second box will open and ask you to choose a track type. Choose the microphone under the Audio tab.
If you use the MacBook's built-in microphone to record audio, just click Create to start the project.
If you will be connecting an external microphone to record audio, change the default setting in the Input dropdown (the microphone must be plugged in).
Turn off the metronome
Turn off the count-in (if desired).
Check the sound levels. When you speak, the volume measurement should be green and stretch at least halfway across the bar.
Reduce background noise. Record in the quietest space possible!
Click the Record button and start speaking once the line moves horizontally across the screen.
Click the Stop button when you have finished recording.
To listen to the recording, return the play head to the beginning of the track and select Play.
To create a second recording, select the Add New Track + sign and choose the microphone again.
