Students will remain in their homeroom classrooms during specials. Above is the rotation for the first six weeks of school.
I believe that the link between home and school is vital to student success. To help you best understand what your student is learning, what our week looked like, as well as assignments and important events, you will receive weekly email each Friday. This email provides you with insight into your student’s week to promote conversations about school at home. Our classroom website (the one you are currently viewing) will also be updated weekly to help you understand what we are learning in the classroom and what your student's assignments are for their remote learning days.
Important papers and newsletters from the school are sent home in Eagle News Folders on the last day of the school week (please return these folders each week) and through our ListServe. Please see the forms that will be coming home with your student the first week of school for more information.
From time to time, notes may go home in your student’s agenda. Please feel free to write notes to the teacher here as well.
Students will be required to do learning at home on their remote learning days. These assignments can be found on this classroom website, in their agendas, on Google Classroom, and on their learning menus.
Assignments may range from practice pages, to hands on activities, to computer tasks. Students will be using Google Classroom this year to view assignments, turn in their work, and communicate with one another. Students should get into the habit of checking Google Classroom each morning on their remote learning days.
Students should always review their learning menu each week to see the expectations around what is required practice, and what tasks are optional learning experiences. If your student has any questions on tasks during their remote learning days, they are encouraged to reach out on Google Classroom or with an email to the teacher. *Please note that I may not be able to touch base with your student right away as I will be instructing the alternate group.
Student assignments (practice pages, classroom tasks, and assessments) will all be graded using our Jumprope platform. In a couple of weeks you will receive a username and password allowing you to login to the platform to view your student's grades. Students will also be asked to login and review their understanding around various concepts and standards, encouraging them to begin to take charge of their learning.
Your student is always welcome to retake a summative assessment (a final unit test) for a better grade after review and practice. I always encourage students to take charge of their learning and push themselves in their thinking. Our goal is to establish habits that build lifelong learners and to push students to always do their very best work.
If you ever have any questions regarding your student's understanding, how to support them in their learning, or around an assessment don't hesitate to reach out!
