This assignment was about writing a narrative about someone special in our lives. Then, we picked a moment that we shared together and wrote about it.Something that I learned about my topic was that a narrative is basically storytelling, so you need to interest your readers so that they would want to read your story. Through the process of the assignment, I learned that I should relax and just tell the story the way it is and what happened. Because a narrative is storytelling, there are no quotes involved. If I had this assignment again, I would use more sensory detail, such as smell, hear, taste, see, and others. Also, I might have added more direct quotes that I remember the person I wrote about saying, such as quotes that have changed my view on things or words that encouraged or inspired me to go on. My overall summary of the assignment would be that this assignment was about picking a person in your life that is special or has made a difference in your life. Write a memorable moment that you shared with that special person.
This assignment was about analyzing quotes from a short story, finding a theme and finding quotes to support your theme. One thing that I learned about this topic was, how to find and analyze quotes that support a theme. Something that I would have done differently if I were to do this assignment again is, pick more quotes that relate and support my topic or theme. This way, I would be able to prove my point from many different places in the story. My overall summary of the assignment would be that this assignment was about finding a theme and finding and analyzing quotes that relate to that theme.
This assignment was about reading a book, in this case, The Outsiders, finding a theme, and then finding quotes to support the theme that you chose. Something that I learned about this topic was that the author of The Outsider, S.E. Hinton, was only 17 years old when her book was published! During the time that Hinton was writing the book, it was not considered that females could be authors. Therefore, Hinton was very brave to write her book in this time. That is also the reason that she abbreviated her name to S.E. Hinton, instead of using her real full name Susan Eloise Hinton. After this assignment, I was encouraged to read more books written by this author. And I can’t say that I regret reading them! I learned that the process of this assignment had a procedure; topic sentence, quotes from book, further explanation of quote meaning and relation to your theme. One thing that I would change if I had to do this assignment again is to better explain some of my quotes. In my essay, many of my quotes are well and thoroughly explained, though some I could dig into deeper. My overall summary of this assignment would be that this assignment was about reading a book, writing an essay on it using quotes and evidence, and then explaining them thoroughly. One thing that I really enjoyed about this assignment was that after we wrote our essays, we were able to watch The Outsiders movie!
