1/22/26 GMS PTO Meeting Summary

Old Business

• The Elfing the Teachers event was successful, and requests are still being received.

• Installation of the new water fountain is still pending.

Planned Activities

• February 6: The PTO will host an ice cream social for 5th graders during their lunch wave to celebrate the 1000th day of school and a Signup Genius will be created for donations.

• February 6: A 7th/8th Grade Fun Night will be held-volunteers are needed.

• February 27: A 5th/6th Grade Fun Night is scheduled-volunteers are needed.

• March 3–6: The Great Wolf Lodge fundraiser will take place, with over 30 rooms booked as of the meeting date.

• March 5: The PTO will provide dinner for teacher conferences, including salads, chips, wraps, and desserts.

• March 31: Skate Night is scheduled.

New Business

• Playground Update: Michelle will research pricing for approximately four new playground swings.

• April 10: The Heart Challenge is scheduled.

• May 4–8: Teacher Appreciation Week is scheduled.

Principal’s Comments

• Equipment will be replenished in the spring, including basketballs and volleyballs.

Secretary Minutes

September 11, 2025

Board Members

Treasurer’s Report

• Current balance: $17,127.01

• $6,039.13 of that balance is designated for the playground fund

New Business

• Board Elections: Co-Chair – Heather Messier; Treasurer – Michelle Stolaronek

• Water Fill Station: Request for installation on 2nd floor approved, pending installation fees.

• Grants: Received $1,000 grant from Walmart; applied for $3,000 grant from Jewett City Savings Bank (recipients announced in October).

• Budget Approvals: Critter Coin budget approved.

• Fundraisers: Box Tops App sign up with referral code-II9D9IW8, and the PTO will receive $5.00 for every sign up and an additional $5.00 for the first receipt scanned.  Panera night in October (exploring), Five Below fundraiser (11/28–12/12, awaiting confirmation), possible Skate Nights in January & March.

• Field Trips: PTO approved $10 per child.

• Playground Updates: Approved purchase of five picnic tables and replenishment of playground balls.

• Communications: PTO page will appear in the GMS monthly newsletter and updates will also be posted on PTO Facebook page.

Upcoming Events

• October 3: 7th & 8th Grade Fun Night (sign-ups emailed)

Principal’s Comments

• Looking into purchase of a rolling cart for playground equipment storage (to be brought to PTO for approval).

Hello families!  

Check out the flyer!  It outlines how funds were raised and how they were spent last year to support our students and school programs. We think it's important for you to see how your contributions are making a difference, and we want you to feel proud of the impact your contributions have made. 

Thank you to our returning families, and welcome, new families for your support and involvement in making our school a better place for our children.  If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please feel free to reach out.    

Our first PTO meeting is Thursday, September 11 at 5pm in the GMS office conference room.  We would love to se you there!
