SEPTEMBER 21
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, shares an important message on the International Day of Peace.
GMS will show our support of peace in our world on 9/21 by sharing an act of CARING and displaying our pinwheels.
What will you do to show you care?
Example: Create a post it note message that reflects caring. Write down something kind that you have done for someone this week or that someone did for you. Post your sticky note on your locker. Help spread the kindness message!
The International Day of Peace (September 21st) was established by the United Nations General Assembly for strengthening the standards of peace. The day is devoted to observing 24 hours of cease-fire and non-violence.
It is more important than ever today to promote peace and open-mindedness for acceptance across gender, race, and territories. Individuals and organizations around the world participate in activities and host events centered on a set theme for the year. Activities vary from private events to public ceremonies, festivals, and concerts sending the message of peace to large audiences.
The 2022 theme for the International Day of Peace is End Racism. Build Peace... Celebrate peace by standing up against acts of hate online and offline, and by spreading compassion, kindness, and hope.
Pinwheels for Peace! Complete your pinwheel this week to reflect your personal contribution to creating peace in your community. #gmstogether
