Pūtaiao - Science is a subject that I have been interested in since my days in high school, and is one that has given me many opportunities in my working life.
The nature and purpose of science is to equip our ākonga as future citizens, with the problem-solving skills to participate in a world where scientific information and evidence is increasingly relied upon to navigate many of the challenges that face our global community. Whether it be designing the next medicinal cure, or solving worldy issues such as climate change, scientists are at the forefront of making these amazing discoveries and delivering solutions to such crises.
I am a new Kaiako, having only just retrained in 2023. But to be given the opportunity here at Te Kura Tuarua o Māwhera to share scientific knowledge with our ākonga, and how it translates to the real world, is an opportunity that I am very excited to be a part of and one I do not take for granted.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch to talk about my teaching, or your ākonga's learning in Science.
