Concept Objective Homework: Students will be required to complete concept objectives and vocabulary as a homework assignment. These will act as study guides for each test to help them review the material each day and prepare for the unit tests. Concept objectives will be completed from the first sheet of each packet by answering the objectives and defining the vocabulary for each concept. A completion homework grade will be awarded for each assignment. Full credit will ONLY be given if both objectives and vocabulary are completed. If only objective questions are answered, students will receive 80%.
Concept Objective Homework Policy: Many homework assignments I give are to reinforce and practice the material you have learned in class. I understand that it is not always necessary for the student who understands the material to have to do this reinforcement practice. Therefore, homework assignments that are meant for practice and not new or extended learning will be optional based on the student’s discretion. The ONLY homework assignments that follow under this policy solely includes CONCEPT OBJECTIVES AND VOCABULARY.
If the student decides to forgo doing the concept objectives and vocab assignment, then the major grade test score will replace the nonexistent grade for the homework.
For example, Sally didn’t turn in 2 of the optional homework assignments for the unit and she made an 87% on the unit test, those 2 missing grades will be replaced by an 87% as reflected by her mastery of the material in the major assessment. University professors rarely give assigned homework. It is important for the student to identify the need and value for practicing newly learned material. Note: Homework assignments outside of concept objectives will be required.
Each unit consists of 2-4 major assessments. The amount of minor assessments varies per unit. However, there will be 2-5 homework assignments per unit, quizzes, and warm up questions for each unit.
All unit tests are cumulative and include both multiple choice and open response questions.
