Jacob Bettano has been involved in competitive swimming for most of his life. He began swimming in the SAIL Guppy program at three years old and continued competing in the league for 15 years. He also competed for 10 years in USA Swimming with the Sportsclub Hurricanes.

During his three years swimming for the JL Mann Patriots, Jacob helped the team win three state championships. He later competed for two seasons at the NCAA Division II level with the Edinboro University Fighting Scots.

Jacob has remained active in the sport as a coach with both the Orchard Farms Gators and the Riverwalk Shockwaves. While attending Edinboro University, he studied Business Administration with a concentration in Economics and a minor in Military Science.
