World Percussion Class Overview
World Percussion is an extensive study of musical traditions from Brazil, Cuba, and Trinidad. This scope of study will start in Brazil with Samba and end in Trinidad with Steel Band. Students are required to move and actively participate in this this hands on course. This class will also perform at various events around our school and in the community.
About me
I am a native of North Carolina, born in Asheville. I studied music at Western Carolina University with a focus in Percussion. I have been teaching now for 17 years and created three world music programs in South Carolina, Dent Middle School, Ridge View High School and now Riverside High School. Ensembles under my direction have received superior ratings at the SCPAS Day of percussion and SCBDA events, and have performed at the SCMEA Music educators conference. I love cats, coffee and playing music!
