Students/ Parents

Work-Based Learning allows students to " Test Drive" what they are learning in the classroom to a potenital career pathway with pay.  These opportunities can take place after school or, if qualified, Level 2 students can work during their Enoree class time 4 days a week.

There are a multitude of benefits for Work-Based Learning

Difference between Co-Op, Internships, and Apprenticeships (and who can apply)

Student Internships- allows students from Enoree Career Center or its feeder schools (CHSA, BHS, TRHS, WHHS) to work flexibly-scheduled, paid, part-time jobs that fit with their school schedule. Launch GVL provides internships for both Enoree Career Center students and feeder high school. For more information, click here.

Enoree Career Center Co-ops - these are similar to student internships in that they are paid, part-time jobs that fit with your schedule based on ongoing partnerships with local business. The WBLC or your instructor will have knowledge about how to apply with company partners.

Registered Apprenticeships- paid opportunities which companies registered through Apprenticeship Carolina.  These often have other qualifying needs, such as additional testing. Recruitment for these will be announced as opportunities arise each semester

Work-Based Learning Student Requirements

In order to participate in work-based learning, you must meet the following requirements:

Commonly Asked Questions and Answers

What if I want to work somewhere we don't have a partnership?

Contact your WBLC, Berdina Hill, with the name and contact and attempts will be made to reach out and onboard them!

Do I get credit?

Yes!

High school students participating in LaunchGVL get CCR (College and Career Readiness credential), which is required to graduate in Greenville County Schools.

Second year students at Enoree Career Center will be able to earn their course's credit by being at their WBL job instead of class (though you will still be in class some of the week, and responsible for your learning).

Third year Enoree Career Center students can earn an additional 1-credit Work-Based Learning credit.

When can I work?

High school students - after school and on weekends

Enoree Career Center  2nd year - usually 2-3 days/week, varies depending on program

Enoree Career Center 3rd year - you can work up to four days a week, any hours as your HS schedule allows it, with the fifth day reserved as a check in day at Enoree Career Center. Most schedules look like this: WBL Mon-Thur. & Enoree Carer Center for check in on Friday (regardless of your actual schedule) - i.e. if you are not scheduled to work that day, but are WBL, you do not have to go to Enoree Career Center that day (bc you probably worked longer hours another day).

Can I count the job I have already?

Maybe. You can talk with your counselor/WBL Coordinator, but essentially, the job MUST align with the career goals stated on your IGP in order to count as WBL. You also must accrue a minimum of 40 hours for the entire work-based learning experience, and your workplace & supervisor must be vetted and onboarded, with your supervisor being required to complete an evaluation of your performance.
