Welding Technology Instructor
My name is Billy Hines. I graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1994. I also attended and completed a two-year program at foot hills career center from fall of 1992 to spring 1994 were I received a certificate in welding. I landed my first welding job 2 weeks after graduation and have been in the welding industry ever since. My specialty has been welding carbon steel and stainless-steel pipe using the SMAW (stick) and GTAW (tig) welding processes. I spent the last 30 years acquiring different types of welding certifications, mastering my craft and learning a lot of different trades or skills along the way like, pipe fitting, fabrication, millwright and rigging. I have worked both construction and manufacturing where I was involved in varies projects from installing boilers, and chillers, to welding turban parts for GE and working in a uranium mine in Canada. My main goal is to help students become employable certified welders so when they graduate, they have a clear path at a successful career in the welding industry. Being a completer of a welding program at a career center myself, I feel that I have a lot of commonalities with students that are in my program. I have a lot of knowledge to share and I genuinely enjoy teaching students how to weld.
