Grading and Grade Weights
Students will complete 3-4 major assignments and 12 minor assignments per quarter. Assignments will be graded based on completion and accuracy. Students will receive a zero for any work that is not handed in. There is no grading floor in this course. At the end of the quarter, all quarter grades below 50% will be adjusted to 50%. This does not pertain to the grades below a 50 in the gradebook. The student's actual grade will be listed in the comments.
There will also be a final exam, which counts for 10% of the final grade.

Attendance
The school year consists of 180 school days. To receive credit, high school students or middle school students taking courses for graduation credit must attend at least 170 days of each 180-day course, as well as meet all minimum requirements for each course.
Seat Time Recovery
To receive high school credit after the 10th unlawful absence, “seat time recovery” is required for every subsequent absence that is unlawful. (Note: the 10 unlawful absence limit applies to each 180-day course.) A student may have up to 10 absences excused by a parent note in each 180-day course. Parent notes over 10 in a 180-day course will be considered unexcused unless accompanied by official medical documentation or otherwise approved by the principal as a lawful excuse. Students should schedule seat time recovery with their teacher. Information will be forthcoming about middle school students needing seat time recovery.
Late Work
Teachers will accept late work due to absences with no penalty to the student up to five (5) days after the original due date. This does not include projects and multi-day assignments that occur during class time. Students may attend the teacher's office hours to complete assignments promptly. The work, although submitted late, will not receive a point reduction. Work can be accepted late across grading periods only by notable exception and approval of the teacher and/or administrator. For high school credit courses, work not turned in will result in a score of zero, not 50.
Redo/Retake Policy
Students must initiate the request to retake/redo a test within ten (10) days of receiving the grade on the test. Students are allowed to retake/redo a major test one time. The student and parent must complete this form and submit it to the teacher. Following a re-test, the higher grade will be recorded in the grade book. Students may retake a test if their initial score is below 80. Scores of 80 and above are not eligible for retake/redo.
Make-up Work Policies: It is the responsibility of each student to inquire about make-up work upon returning from an absence. Students must also check google classroom for classwork and homework information for any days missed.
**Student Backpack is an essential tool for news and major project due dates. Google Classroom will be your greatest asset for staying up to date.
