I grew up in the upstate with a love for Greenville and a passion for all things science. I did my undergrad at Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating with a BS in Biology. From there, I went into academic research, helping in multiple science labs, assisting with teaching undergrad lab courses, and having six academic papers published. I intended to continue in science research for the rest of my life, with aspirations for a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology.
In 2012, I moved to Alabama where I met my husband, Jeremy, and began working in research at the University of South Alabama. About a year into my time there, I started to sense that my interests and passions were shifting and I began my teaching journey in 2013. I have been in love with teaching since day one, helping students find the same love of science that I have. In order to learn to do that more effectively, I completed my MA in Teaching from Western Governors University in 2018.
In 2019, Jeremy, our son DJ, and I moved back home to the upstate. This summer I gave birth to our second son, Zack! I look forward to working another year at Mauldin High teaching Biology!
