I'm thrilled to begin the 2025–2026 school year and excited to be teaching Art 2/2H, Art 3H, Art 4H, AP Studio Art, Crafts1-3, and AP Art History. I look forward to getting to know each of my students and sharing a creative and inspiring year together.
I earned both my Master of Arts in Teaching and my Bachelor of Science in Visual Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design from Lander University.
My current work focuses on portraiture using nontraditional materials and techniques. I enjoy exploring a variety of media to push the boundaries of expression. Recently, I’ve been working with alcohol ink, batik, scratchboard, and a method called scribbling, which uses organic lines to build layered, dynamic compositions with color pencils or ink.
I believe every student has the capacity to be creative, and my classroom is a space where imagination, experimentation, and personal expression are encouraged and celebrated. I view art as a skill, not just a talent—something that can be developed over time with dedication and practice. All students are capable of improving their artistic abilities, and I am committed to helping them build confidence and technique through consistent effort and exploration.
When reviewing and grading student work, I always consider growth in skills, not just the final outcome. My goal is to support students in their individual journeys, challenge them to think critically, and help them discover their unique artistic style.
I expect full participation from every student, regardless of experience level. Engagement, effort, and a willingness to try are key to personal growth in art. Whether it's through creating, critiquing, or collaborating, every student plays an important role in our classroom community. I also believe in supporting students individually and helping them meet their goals—so communication and effort are always appreciated.
