I was born and raised in a small farming town in northern Indiana. I attending Indiana University Bloomington right after high school and earned my first Bachelor's Degree in General Studies in 2005. After college I moved to Orlando, FL and lived there for almost five years. Upon returning to Indiana, I needed something to do while I looked for a job and ended up becoming a substitute teacher. I loved it so much that I went back to school. Since I'm a Hoosier at heart, I stuck with Indiana University and earned my Bachelor's in Education in 2013 from their Kokomo site.

Never one to be a fan of the cold, I started looking for warmer places to live while I was in school. My family has been going to Hilton Head since I was a baby and I knew the Carolina's were beautiful. I checked out Greenville because a friend from the area suggested it and I fell in love. I moved here in 2014 and could not be happier.

I spent my first school year as a substitute teacher in Greenville County. I was lucky enough to find a long term sub position in fifth grade at Stone Academy for the last quarter of school. Fortunately, Fork Shoals hired me for the following school year. Since then I have worked in the virtual program and Fountain Inn Elementary. This will be my eleventh year teaching and my second year in sixth grade. I love the challenge of teaching in middle school.

I am a dog mom to a Lab mix named Mollie. I was fostering for the Humane Society at the end of 2019 after putting down my dog of thirteen years. I thought that I would foster for at least six months before I started thinking about getting another dog. Unfortunately, Mollie had other plans. She came to me three months in and I knew she was the dog for me. She has kept me laughing and active through these crazy times.

In my spare time, I love to read. I can read as many as twelve books in a week (depending on how much time I have and how long the books are). I have been known to read two books in one day or stay up past my bedtime because I found a book I love. 😬 My mom is the same way (and regularly loans or suggests books to me). I go back to Indiana whenever I can to spend time with my family. They also make frequent trips to Hilton Head so I can spend time with them here. I am the proud aunt of two nieces and two nephews.
