Welcome to Ms. Urban’s Class!
Welcome parents and guardians to an exciting school year at Sara Collins Elementary School. Our classroom is designed to provide a supportive and nurturing environment where students from Kindergarten through 2nd grade can develop essential skills in various areas. Social Skills
We will work on building positive relationships, understanding social cues, and developing appropriate social behaviors through structured activities and role-playing.
Core Vocabulary
Students will learn essential words and phrases to enhance their communication abilities, using a variety of interactive tools and techniques.
Communication
We will use speech, sign language, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices to support each student’s unique communication needs.
Functional Daily Living Skills
Emphasis on practical skills such as personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and other self-care activities to promote independence.
Functional Academics
Tailored academic instruction in reading, writing, and math that connects to real-world applications, ensuring that students gain practical knowledge and skills.
Respect: We treat each other with kindness and respect.
Responsibility: We take care of our materials and classroom.
Safety: We follow rules to keep everyone safe.
Regular communication between home and school is vital.
