I'm Meredith (Meri) Lynch, the Instructional Coach at Travelers Rest High School. I began teaching in 2003. A few notes about my experience:
My undergraduate degrees are in French and History at Wofford College.
I worked at Wofford for a while before I gained my certification through PACE to teach French and social studies.
I have taught all levels of French, and most of my teaching experience was in Spartanburg County School District Four (Woodruff, SC).
At Woodruff High, I also taught yearbook, various social studies classes, and SAT Prep.
I taught English and Teacher Cadets at Blue Ridge High School before coming to TR.
In 2018, I earned my Doctor of Education degree from Gardner-Webb University, where I did my research on improving reading stamina in high school students, and I became certified in English as a result of doctoral work.
Through my research, I have learned that reading more makes better readers, and the best way to teach reading is through Scaffolded Silent Reading.
I also teach in the South Carolina Program of Alternative Certification for Educators (PACE).
I LOVE helping teachers!
I also love living in this area of the Upstate! Several years ago, my husband and I moved to Landrum/Tryon to live at beautiful Lake Lanier (pictured above). We have one daughter who is an event manager in the Charleston, SC area. I enjoy boating, paddle boarding, traveling, cooking, entertaining, and, of course, reading! I am thrilled to be able to share my love of teaching with fellow Devil Dogs at TR!
We are TR!
Travel with Students
Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. I love to travel and have taken students to France (in 2014 & 2016) and Italy (in 2018).
