Freshman Success

Freshman Success is a 9th grade elective course that is designed to give Travelers Rest High School freshman an extensive orientation to high school and to provide them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to have a rewarding and successful high school experience.

In addition to the orientation to high school, major topics will include: classroom procedures and management, self-awareness, goal-setting, time management, communication skills, study habits, and test-taking skills. Students will also spend time studying careers, and planning future course selection. A major emphasis throughout the whole course will be character education.

Learning Targets:

• The students will be able to understand and analyze the importance and impact of planning for the future.
• The students will know how to adequately study for a test and have time-management.
• The students will have opportunities to work collaboratively.
• The students will know how to become an informed citizen.
• The students will have a better working knowledge of the healthy relationships and their impact on the global community.
